Option #4 scales are 3D contoured and fill the hand nicely.
Option #5 scales are flat (about 5/32" thick) and share a similar texture with most Spyderco G-10 handles.
*Note the color becomes much richer when the scales are wiped down with oil then washed and dried.*

Thanks very much for putting this together, very appreciated.

In terms of ergonomics, any thoughts on which option scales are more comfortable to use? I'd love to grab a pair for my first mule, the K390.

Blade, I love the option 4s on my Elmax mule. Fits the hand well, no hot spots.

Thanks for the inventory update!

I have both of these options. For outdoor use, I like the more full grip of the option #4 and for kitchen use (about 1/2 my mule chores occur here) I like the thinner option #5. Generally I like the thinner the most because they are half the price and I feel they fit my palm size better. They easily change so get one of each to try. If you carry the mule for EDC, I like the thinner for that as well.

Thanks for this post. Very helpful. Just sent off an e-mail for three sets (option 4, natural, grey and black).

I currently have the option 4's on two mules (orange and brown micarta) and love the grip they give. Didn't go with the thin scales cause this gives me the option of using the two sheaths i got interchangeably. At least until I get new sheaths made.

Thanks again.

I always wanted to purchase the Option 4 micarta versions, but waited too late and the website was down. Can you post pics of them?

Marrianne asked me to share that you can order by email, then you will be called for credit card information when they are ready to ship. They will be processing orders as fast as possible.

I've been meaning to post some pics so will try to get some up over the weekend.

They really are a nice option in comparison to the G10. I am planning on switching them onto the K390 Mule when it gets here.

Earth Brown, Ranger Green, and Blue. I think I'm going to go with the Option 5 flat scales like your photos. They look pretty slick.

Thanks for posting those photos.

I love the earth brown and I have a set of Opt. 5 ranger green coming soon. The blue is just like the dodo, para2, sage 3 in color.

I have not tried it, but maybe use Marianne's address as a backup.

Just ordered the Earth Brown, Ranger Green, and Blue. Can't wait to get my first Mule (tracking says I should have them Monday) and these new scales. I'm going to work these mules hard. Will make one of these my outdoor beat up knife. I'm sure it will be able to take the abuse.
