Almite Cricket...

#1

Post by lotsablades »

What was the numerical designation of the cricket in Almite-coated Aluminum scales?

I need to verify if one I recently acquired is in its "original" box, or not.

Thanx, gang!

C29S or C29P, if I understand your question correctly.

Lottsablades,

The Model Number has not changed. The additional letters designation blade type, color (pinks), and maybe handle material (CF?) are different. Not sure if Ted and I have answered your question but I can check the PE Almite I got from Rico when I get off work and send you the all the numbering from the box it came in.

I'm now waiting as fast as I can for the SS Crickets to be released! Congrats on the Almite!

"A hole-less knife is a soul-less knife is a whole less knife" Neo-Javanese proverb

Uh-oh!

Looks like I may be in the same boat. Rico sent me a PE Almite Cricket in a "Black Box" with a label stating Cricket on it and the word Japan in the corner of one end-flap. I did not receive any paperwork with the knife either. The box looks like the old <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>co boxes sans the bar-coded label. What kind of box did yours come with??

All my other Almite C29s came in white boxes with Kanji characters so there's no help there - as a matter of fact the Pink, CF, and Ying-Yang are also from Hamonoichiba and the boxes bear no immediately identifiable coding. The YY is even Gin-1 steel (as is the PE from Rico) and all it has different on the box is the Japanese Kanji for "Special". The Spyderco Story offered no help on box ident either. Sorry lots, Lotsa. Wish I could've been more help. Maybe SFO can give us better data. Patti (Lokelani) has helped me with old specs on my Laguoiles and some other Spydies. Could be worth a shot.

This is what I know for sure (because I've seen the boxes)

US boxes:

almite PE = C29P
almite SE = C29S
Car.Fib PE = C29CFP
Car.Fib SE = C29CFS
FRN pink = yellow sticker, don't remember the number

Japanese box

Almite = 5 Kanji characters
Car.Fib = same 5 Kanji characters, and 9 more below that in brackets
Pink = 5+4 Kanji characters + pink sticker

Hope this helps.
Ted

Thanks for the fast replies, gang!
My box is a black one, with a sticker designating the knife as C29P, for plainedge. I just wasn't sure if the Almite handle had a special numerical designation.

It sure is a SWEET knife! It appears that my box is indeed the correct one for the knife.

Thanks again! What a great resource this forum is for all of us Spydie collectors!

I'll check mine later and post the label info... it's down in the dungeon, locked in a toolbox(with the rest of the boxes and unused knives)...
