salimoneus wrote:If that is the case I would say it's a design flaw in the Sypderco website. You can't blame Google Maps API, it wasn't designed as a shopping cart system, it was designed for maps. For high volume shopping carts there are other more appropriate zip code services out there.
Some *design flaws* become apparent only when the system is hammered beyond its capacity. Typical of software systems. ;)

I was finally able to get in my order by a trick - I changed the state from CA to C, and it went through fine. Might be opportunity window opening at that time, but I got it in finally. And then I shot an email to sfo@ for correcting that C to CA. :)

They're good people. The phones were ringing off the hook there and everyone was working hard to handle the requests.

I'm ready for the "I hate you" responses. ;)

So you just walked in and purchased that? Wow, that would be cool. Did you have to pay sales tax? LOL

I had to re-enter the code every time I refreshed...
It did take it once the error cleared.

Yes on both Sales Tax and the Forum Code. The SFO people are great and take good care of all of us. It's sometimes easy to forget that Spyderco is still just a pretty small company and there are a handful of people that make the SFO work.

I might have to take off from work early and make a trip up to the SFO. Bring these wonderful individuals trying to help us junkies out as best as possible given the circumstances some beer and treats!

As Taz said in the sticky, they don't load the entire inventory into the website site. So that might not be a true indication of how many are really left.

Would have to make sure bringing them some beer was OK with the man himself first. Don't want to get anyone in trouble or risk not being allowed into the SFO ever again!
