I use all my spydies generally...that being said, I have one that I bought specifically as a back-up the FRN Stretch CE.

Other than that I have variations of the same knives but all are different (scale color, blade steel, edge configuration). It is hard to justify the saem knife twice. Even the Millie CE that I want to back up will problably end up as a DLC verision just to keep it different.

I don't do duplicates, but of some Caly, Para2, Manix2, and Sage variations I have a few.

Right now I'm carrying one of my Millies, but if I'm subjecting an EDC to heavy use I carry an Endura due to their availability and good price. Got a bunch of them. I've even given some away on the job.

Out of over 50 Spydies, I've only bought one duplicate: Caly 3 CF / Damascus.

I've been carrying one for several months. The other is in the safe... perhaps a gift to my son when he's older. I think this model is GORGEOUS.

I basically never buy duplicates - my knife budget is tight enough that I'd rather have an entirely different knife than a "just in case" backup. I've also never really had one singular knife that remained my be-all, end-all favorite for a very long time - my tastes seem to vary over time, so if I had to give up any one of my favorites, I wouldn't mourn terribly much, knowing that I have so many other favorites to choose from.

I used to have quite a lot of spares. Certainly C83 bolstered Persian was a champion. I had 5 black micarta and four red G10. Now I have only 3 black micarta and one Red. I have four Native5, but all of the are different. When Caly3 was discontinued I bought 3 back-ups, but let two go when Caly3.5 came out. I have two Kopa Cocobolo.

My top choices Natives5, Calys, C83 Persian

Southard and Yo2 I keep a backup, others I have variants like the Manix 2 and Militaries.
I have too many expensive hobbies to even consider another one.

Zero.

I would most likely be crushed if my cpm m4 Millie was ever lost or stolen. I've used and loved it so much I'd probably regrind it and carry it even if half the blade snapped off. unfortunately it's a bit too pricey for me to purchase a duplicate of.

Redscovering the nuances inherent in every model is part of the joy :) Duplicates of any one model is not needed :)

I generally don't get exact duplicates. I've never lost or come close to wearing out a knife, so replacement isn't usually a concern.

But, I do have a NIB duplicate Centofante Memory. At one point, I was considering doing some mods to my user Memory, and I wanted to have an original too. I'm not sure I'll get around to doing the mods now, so my extra Memory will likely get sold or traded eventually.

Delica 4. Very economical to keep an extra in a bag just in case, and to have a back-up of this phenomenal design.
