Hi everyone,

I am a knifemaker down in Australia. I am sure you have heard all the issues with have with trying to import the lovely Spyderco knives into our country. So I ended up approaching Spyderco about licencing the Round Hole for use in my knives as they have done with other knife makers. At least then there would be an option for us Aussies. So late last year I came out with my first model featuring the Round Hole. Not sure what the rules of the forum are in terms of showing my custom creations so I thought I would ask before putting any pictures up.

I have been making knives in my spare time since 2004 and almost exclusively folders since 2005/06. I started making slipjoints both in traditional and some non traditional styles. Once the new import restrictions came in I was getting a lot of queries about making some more modern locking knives so I have taught myself how to make liner locks and frame locks now.

Anyway that is a brief introduction. Please let me know if I can post up some pictures of my Spyderco Round Hole knife model.

Welcome to the Forum. I do not see any problem posting pictures of your knives. I also think that most people here will appreciate them.

Ok here goes. I only made in my spare time so I haven't made too many of them and this is my first model to feature the Round Hole. I haven't shown them outside of the Australian sites until now since the main interest for me was to make a knife for our local market.

First up are some plain EDC linerlock versions. All of them have Elmax blades and G10 handle scales.







I have also done one with a Ti Bolster and CF scales





I have also gone a bit fancier and done a couple of Chad Nichols Mokuti framelock versions as well





Those ones have bearings as well so they open really nicely.

I put a video up on youtube before one of the shows down here which shows it off nicely.

Mokuti is beautiful, but the bolstered CF model is screaming my name. Nicely done. I haven't been subscribed to Blade for years, but it's nice to hear your work has been showcased. I can see why!

As your main goal is to supply the local markets, will these ever become available to those outside the country? I am loving that bolstered Ti and especially the mokuti!

No there is nothing really stopping them from going OS. I am a little unsure of what would happen if anyone ever wanted to send one back for servicing or a fluff'n'buff etc. There might be some problems getting it back into Australia. There is a part in the legislation for servicing/temporary importation but I have never tried it out and it might involve weeks of red tape to sort out.

Welcome to the forum and great work on the knives. They look great. I'll echo another praise for the ti/CF model. That one is really beautiful.

In the last one I put a pocket clip on it from Mokuti as well.
