Has anyone seen the new orange Dragonfly?

#1

Post by Doc Dan »

Hi Folks,

Has anyone seen the orange Dragonfly, yet? I have one on order but it has not arrived. I was wondering if anyone had seen it and what they thought of it.

I haven't seen any pictures except the ones on the pre-order. Also, I know that KC
says that it is expected in June 2013, but that doesn't necessarily mean that it will
be out in June. It very well could be, but then again....

Yep, they are hitting the stores now, so there should be several around.

They also might be sold out already in a place or too.

Really dig the orange color on these.

Mine came in from KW. It is a nice bright orange. A few shots of some Dragonflies next to a Cat for comparison (just realized I forgot to include my G10 dragonfly in the pic):

Nothing wrong with orange, right? :)

Don't let the steel hold you back, nothing wrong with Spyderco's VG-10. I suppose some people will be tempted to buy the orange and do a blade swap with a ZDP-189 dragonfly.

I wish the dragonfly had a compression lock on it. I might get one of every color and steel.
I fumble around with the back lock and try to flick the blade out of lock so I can close it with
one hand. It's a great little knife, but the backlock is not my favorite.

This orange is so much better than the catalog photos suggest! The stock photo is an ugly faded yellowish orange.

rodloos, what fixed blade knife is in the top middle (vertical)? Also, how long ago were the orange Ladybugs released? Are they FFG?

I've been anxiously waiting the release and sure enough it happens after I've already spent my knife allowance. Good thing it's a new production knife and not a sprint. I can wait a little longer.

That is a Dan Koster Scout in CPM-3V, a fun little knife.

The orange ladybugs were done for County Comm, who ostensibly sold them to some government project and made their extras available, they are H1 steel, saber grind. They also made a run of brown ones, which are still available.

Seeing that Dragonfly next to the orange Ladybug is really making me want one. I'm trying to cut back and hold out for the SB D'fly.

Orange Dragonfly

In the wrong light it does look yellowish but it is safety orange (I think that's right). It's really the County Com Ladybug color though. Beautiful knife, by the way. I got one at Knife Center

The pivot on mine was super tight too, I had to loosen it a bit.
