It's actually a Native and Chaparral LW. I didn't realize how close the cutting edge is on the 2 either. For my uses the blade stock on the Native is a bit thick but I really like the Rex 45, so a Rex 45 Chaparral would be tough to beat for me.

Ah, my bad! They both look great. I have a Native LW on order, haven't tried out a Chappy yet. Excited to try Rex 45!bbturbodad wrote: ↑Tue Mar 31, 2020 8:52 pmIt's actually a Native and Chaparral LW. I didn't realize how close the cutting edge is on the 2 either. Was working from home today with the 52100 Para 3. Working up the nerve to skinny-cut those beautiful carbon scales that is.
Past: Dragonfly, Air, Rhino, Lil' Native, Techno 2, Caly Jr., Brouwer, Chap LW, Para3, N5, Watu, ‘Chef, Mantra 2, SSStretch, PM2, Smock, Shaman, Advocate, GB2, Kapara, Military, Bradley Bowie, Province
Present: P4 K390 FRN
Future: Para3 Cruwear (someday)
Regrets: Most of them

I am sure you'll like your Native LW, I enjoyed mine for quite some time! :)kennethsime wrote: ↑Tue Mar 31, 2020 9:46 pmAh, my bad! They both look great. But tbh, I sold it as soon as I got my Chap FRN: As Turbo said, they have virtually the same amount of cutting edge, but the Chap is a lot thinner and slicier and also a lot more compact and smaller in the pocket. With my handsize I have to grip both models choked up on the choil anyway, so the shorter handle of the Chap is no con at all for me. Actually in real use I even prefer the ergos of the Chap, for whatever reason it feels more secure and stable in my hand than the Native, despite the Chap being so thin (the Native felt real good in the hand too, don't get me wrong, just not as locked in as the Chap).
Since you like the Para 3 though, I don't think you'll find the Native blade too thick, it is actually thinner than the Paras.
If you'd like to compare the Chap to a Sage: They look (but just look!) even more similar than Chap and Native, just differently sized...
Top three going by pocket-time (update March 24):
- EDC: Endura thin red line ffg combo edge (VG10); Wayne Goddard PE (4V), Endela SE (VG10)

One of these days, I will try a Chaparral. And if it kicks everything else out of my pocket, you can bet I'll be blaming you, Warstein.Wartstein wrote: ↑Tue Mar 31, 2020 11:18 pmI am sure you'll like your Native LW, I enjoyed mine for quite some time! :)

I like the "little big knives" a lot. I'm not sure any other big (3.5"+) knife is going to beat out the Stretch or PM2 for me, but the 3" and under territory is undecided. I think a Para 3 LW is next, then a Dragonfly or a Chaparral LW (or both).

Since you like the Para 3: The LW version of it is almost a "must", right? :) What I personally find really cool in this knife: First (and only so far, right?) linereless comp. lock knife! And that works perfectly from all I read here.
/ I could handle both the DFly and the Chap, liked both a lot but went with the latter and never looked back.
Why? The Chap really goes "all the way" by being even thinner both certainly in blade and as far as I remember also handle than the DFly, is not that much bigger when closed, but offers significantly more cutting edge (for me a clear plus concerning versatility in such small knives)
On the other hand: The DFly is amazingly light but still feels strong enough...
So I guess: Your "both" is the correct approach here... :p :p

Re: What Spyderco is in your pocket today??
Since talked about in the posts above I put the Chap in my pocket...
When comparing knives in slicing an apple one really comes to realize the benefits and superior performance of the Chaps thin blade.
This is noticable even more so when the knives are not perfectly sharp anymore.

Re: What Spyderco is in your pocket today??
You´re right, of course it does not matter at all, I was just kidding... :)
/ Both knives look great!
After seeing Julias pics I was thinking about terotuf scales for a Stretch 1, but they said they would not offer those anymore... so I think I´ll go with some wood instead ("Pauls/the Deacon-style" )

Re: What Spyderco is in your pocket today??
Up on an order picker? If so, I've done that one before. That's one of the reasons I usually don't bring a high $ knife to work. I sometimes have to open boxes up high and I'd hate to drop one.
Of all the things I've lost I miss my mind the most!
Re: What Spyderco is in your pocket today??
I was actually on a landing on the 2nd tier of our stockroom. In the bottom of this photo, the yellow looking device is actually a motor/chain driven pallet jack type of thing. We use that to pull all those individual shelves down. It's painfully slow, so a bit annoying when you have to grab something from the top!
We're running very lean here with COVID 19 cases in NY, there are normally 2 guys that work the stock room and myself that handles the shipping/receiving...well one of the guys is scared to come to work, and the other has a sinus infection. I pretty much live here this week, going to have around 80 hours after Saturday. At least NY is pretty much locked down besides gas stations and grocery stores, so I guess I'm not missing out on anything!
