This knife has been vaulting up my list of Spyderco models that I've owned/own. I just may put this behind the Manix and Shaman to round out my personal top 3. Something about this design, and this K390 steel just hits the spot for me. FRN and all :p Planned on carrying something else today, but grabbed this again without hesitation.

Made full use of a break between two appointments: Nice winter-run a bit up and above the noise and crowds of the city.. :)
With me one of my personal top three masterpieces among Sals masterpieces.

Yes, indeed, that´s what I do.

And the answer for all the seekers is simple: Stretch 1. :p

Not exactly in the pocket but giving these 2 Spydies a workout in my kitchen. So far, so good. The Bow River has been excellent!

Wow, for some reason I always pictured the Bow River being larger than that! Glad you picked up a Z-Cut...get you a SE to go along with that PE ;)

The Bow River is definitely smaller than I thought also but it's been great. The Z-Cut is a little thinner than I hoped for but takes a wicked edge. Great for smaller tasks. Very pleased with these two overall.

This is the reading I got:

Plus a 15dps microbevel on the mediums.

Feels like a completely different knife when carving wood. Previously it had a thicker back bevel and a not-so-micro bevel at 20 degrees.

Yes, the Endela has something to it that makes it very appealing, I still prefer the Endura, just for the longer blade, but the Endela is an even more "harmonic" "perfectly proportioned" - really don´t know what to call it - design with an even better handle.

/ Rick, I wonder if you´ll give K390 in SE a try. I know you are not necessarely the biggest SE-fan out there, but I´d really like to read about your experiences with real life use and sharpening of SE K390. Since I think Vivi moved a bit away from SE towards toothy PE edges, you an David (Evil D) are the two members here that come immediately to mind when looking for folks who really use and sharpen their knives, know what they are doing and share that regularely (! I know there are many more knowledgeable folks here, but these two just post a lot and come to my mind first!)
Furthermore, K390 in SE could be something else to experience concerning edge retention. If VG10 already holds an edge clearly longer in PE than in SE, K390 could be stunning in that regard... ?!

I'm still kind of on the fence when it comes to SE. I've enjoyed it at times, but also found it a hassle at other times. I know it depends on how the tips of the SE are though. My Matriarch glides through material, but obviously isn't the most practical edc knife. My SE Wharnie Delica that I was VERY excited to try has been hit or miss. The tips of the serrations are very sharp and pointy, I know I should just round them off on the CBN rods, but I haven't gotten around to it. But they do snag on various types of tapes I cut each day. Making me stop and pick the tape out of the serrations.

I do love that SE stays sharp for quite a bit longer than PE of the same steel. I've experienced that with VG10 as well, so that really does make me wonder how incredible SE must be in K390!! Definitely looking forward to some feedback on that once someone really gets using theirs and reports it. That may tempt me to get a 3rd SE knife, and it would definitely be the Endela

Really cool knife, can´t see enough pics of it! (And got lucky in that regard lately anyway through your posts ;) )
But how does sharpening go with that "wavy" edge?

It's not bad. I use a lanky triangle ceramic stone. It's like a short sharpmaker rod. Just gotta be careful with the tip. I freehand and use the corners. I've also used a dmt tapered diamond file.

Also I try not to post it every day I carry it because this thread would just be a lot of pictures of this knife. :D
