That's quite a combo. Going by your initial impressions which one do you like better?

Unfortunately the ergos on the Rock Lobster really don't work for me. The handle forces my fingers into an unnatural grip. Now, if I could "skinny" the scales like Sharp Guy did, then it could be a closer match. But the action and the fit and finish are also not quite as nice on the RL. No, the Bowie wins hands down. I definitely don't want to start another argument about how much the SB is really worth, but the contoured scales, the perfect action and f&f, and the much better ergos tip the scales pretty far in its favor for me. That being said, I love the blade shape on the RL, and will probably find it a bit more useful for edc. And I'm really happy to have it just as a really cool, classic Spyderco.

I was always on the fence about whether the RL ergos would work for me. The index choil looking area always looked sized for 2 1/2 fingers to me, which seemed like it would feel odd. I debated on ordering one of the sprints but ultimately felt like it would end up being a catch and release for me. May grab one off the secondary market if one pops up for a good price.

Vivi, since you've got much larger hands than I do, it could work for you with two fingers in the "choil" area, and the others on the flat. Just a guess. But as you said, that recessed area is definitely a 2.5 finger groove for me. I posted pics earlier in the RL thread.

Nice! :)

I really wished the Native ergos would work just a bit better for me (they are not bad at all, but my particular hand just likes other handles better).
It's such a cool looking knife, and must be a great little cutter in SE.
Top three going by pocket-time (update March 24):
- EDC: Endura thin red line ffg combo edge (VG10); Wayne Goddard PE (4V), Endela SE (VG10)
-Mountains/outdoors: Pac.Salt 1 SE (H1), Salt 2 SE (LC200N), and also Wayne Goddard PE (4V)

Colormatching...

Image
I'm more of a black & green kind of guy :D

Image

:p I was too for quite a long time (and am still sometimes) - I really think the more bright colored thing came up when some buddies started to make more pics when we are climbing, bouldering, powder skiing... it's just way better for their photos when in a high wall or huge powder slope there is a tiny bright colored spot than one that can hardly be seen ;)

Generally I have a feeling that in outdoor/mountain clothing people from Europe tend to choose brighter colors than US folks.

/ And this colornatching actually just happened by accident... :)

Curious how your assesment of the Bowie will be compared to Ricks.

It’s not perfect for me, but it’s a great work knife. The native is a design that screams “bring it on” to me. I use em hard. This one and the rex45.
