What Spyderco is in your pocket today??
Re: What Spyderco is in your pocket today??
Shut the front door, and get right out of town :) Woodpuppy, vivi, and Digdug72!
I know we have a love of Spydercos in common, and I knew I was in excellent company, but I'm really diggin' it even more now! It would seem we have more in common that just the knives.
In honor of yalls excellent photos, I would like to add mine - if yall don't mind :)
Mark Gator Vision V6. 88 or 89. Independent bases, Thunder riser hanger up front, Motobilt riser hanger in the back, Swiss bearings, and A LOT of Great times and memories!
Thank yall for posting up those photos! Totally made my night!
Of course I'm still carrying the Hyker
u.w.
edtied: nomenclature (hanger - not - riser) & Motobilt

Awesome thread drift  Independent trucks, Swiss bearings, slimeball 95A’s
I kinda cringe at the idea of trying to skate now, I went 2-wheel in college. Started getting into trials a little and was far more adventurous (and competent) doing that than I ever was skating. Sure was fun though :D

I found one of my boards with the help of my wife, I'll post pics in the morning! **** Vivi...tall, skinny guy, Toy Machine...you related to Ed Templeton haha!vivi wrote: ↑Wed Mar 03, 2021 7:43 pmI was skating a toy machine today. An old eye deck with krux trucks. I built a new board during lockdown last year but still like the old broken in one better.TkoK83Spy wrote: ↑Wed Mar 03, 2021 7:18 pmHaha. Love those 80's boards! I've still got my Toy Machine board with Grind King trucks somewhere. I've also got a Zero deck signed by Jamie Thomas that I obviously never used. I believe those are in storage at my parents house, makes me want to go dig those out!
heres a real short skate video I made years ago.

Love that set at the end, could never do it with one foot though. Great control. I'd do something similar but turn it into a backside shove it and if I was lucky a kickflip out.

Looks like we all loved to grind! The board I found (or wife found) I'm not even sure who made it. Can't wait to post tomorrow morning!!u.w. wrote: ↑Wed Mar 03, 2021 7:56 pmShut the front door, and get right out of town :) Woodpuppy, vivi, and Digdug72!

Hey Vivi, one last time on "no" spin knife throwing (such it is such a fun skill to have! :)
I watched that very lengthy instructional video (mentioned in the SHORTER vids) of that German guy now (Vid in English though!) (https://youtu.be/RfgmRSfBs8w&t=1148s): The content and the tips especially for people rather new to that kind of throwing are actually great! Would have helped me a lot when I started "no" spin throwing.
Just the first 15 to 20 minutes are really worth watching already!!
/ On topic: Going for a run now, and, who would have guessed it, will be carrying my Chap IWB :)
Seen here with the Esee Laser Strike, my main throwing knife. Not designed for that, but in my use better for throwing (actually great for that!) than as a cutting tool...
Top three going by pocket-time (update March 24):

Fresh deck, fresh dye job. Gotta put some scratches on these guys :D
Thanks for the crash course on no spin throwing. I should be able to find a chance to try it this weekend!Wartstein wrote: ↑Thu Mar 04, 2021 1:17 am

Re: What Spyderco is in your pocket today??
I'M not over-carrying, YOU'RE over carrying!
A few months ago, I recieved a K390 Dragonfly and swapped the VG-10 blade out of this G-10 model into it for my girlfriend. She likes teal, I like K390, it's a win-win! I tried reals hard to fit the G-10 model back together with the new K390 blade & matching lockbar, but man I totally failed. Well, I tried again the other day and got it together first try - don't ask me why I waited so long.
It's a bit stiff, but the lockup is rock-solid. I'm real stoked on what I consider to be pretty much the highest-performance little knife out there.

I'm happiest with Micarta and Tool Steel.
Top four in rotation: K390 + GCM PM2, ZCarta Shaman, Crucarta PM2, K390 + GCM Straight Spine Stretch.

Rick and the rest of the "skater gang":
I was never a skater myself (just a tad too old, I was not really a kid anymore when it became popular and too much into other things already), but I really enjoy reading your conversations ,the pics and your passion!! :)
Will have a look at Vivis skating thread.
