I could start a knife-pic-series with all the location of "Sound of music" in the background... would actually be pretty easy to do, most are in or very close the city of Salzburg, where I live. ;)
I would love to see that thread - that movie was a favorite of mine as a kid.

Julia, it is really just like a ten minutes afternoon stroll from where I live, and so I choose Schloss (=castle) Frohnburg as background for todays "what Spyderco is in your pocket today" - pic ;)

Schloss Frohnburg in the current form was built around 1670, and was taken as home of the Trapp family in "Sound of music". Don´t know if the backside / backentrance (to be seen in my pic) was ever shown in the movie (but I guess so?), but it is actually the prettier side nowadays.

(Sorry, I should have focused on the castle, not the Manix in this particular case.. :o - didn´t realize that on my phone screen...)

Sound of Music tours to all the locations actually are quite a big deal in Salzburg I guess (here just one random example - all the locations shown https://www.panoramatours.com/en/salzbu ... locations/) - for Americans and Asians, while most local people don´t even know that this movie exists.

Not sure though that you could actually visit the Frohnburg castle (inside) officially, it is a dorm for music students nowadays.
But I guess it would be no problem to just sneak in... I´ll try, take a knife pic inside and report back, ok? :D

Gorgeous scenery, terrible lock...

I'm conflicted, lol!

Agree on the scenery, not on the lock...

The CBBL really is almost as good, safe and versatile as a well made backlock imho.

The way the blade can remain in a half closed position allows you to do basically all the backlock-operating methods, while you can still easily perform everything in a "comp. lock way" too.
Some say that one disadvantage would be that the butt end of the knife had to be put in the palm of the hand for proper lock operation (I myself believed that too). Not true at all.

So... why literally "terrible" for you?!

Mainly the operation of the lock. The lock is difficult to actuate and less reliable in the grand scheme(more pieces that can fail)

I have had many of them, both BBL and CBBL. All hot garbage.

One of my favorite knives is the Dodo, but I always end up getting rid of them because of the lock. I would kill for a Compression Dodo.

My list goes like this:

Compression>Backlock>Framelock>Linerlock>Feces>C/BBL
Hehe

I really wanted to like it, It's a neat design. I have had 10 or 12 knives that were CBBL or BBL, but it was a 100% no, everytime.

Even a WTC knife that I found in a pawnshop for $20 wasn't enough for me to keep a CBBL around.
