thanks! i ordered a set of textured micarta scales from ukraine on ebay. i wasn't planning on showing the manix until i had everything installed, but it's going to take a month for them to get here. i'm also waiting for a different ball cage to restock, but i put a ti cage and ceramic bearing in as a place holder.

If I pick up a manix any time soon, it will likely be this! While I’d love to pick up something with that rad burnt orange color, this “blue” is way more interesting to me than royal blue, and I kinda want to try SPY27 as I’m a fan of well rounded east to maintain stainless.

As for today’s carry, spent the first half the day with a kapara and second half with an alcyone. Two of my favorites!

Very cool, glad you finally got the non - LW you wanted! :smlling-eyes

And I know, not an issue for you, but I´d want the lighter, skeletonized liners yours has now (and not the heavier liners of the base S30V Manix)

Well, once again: "Throwing" trailrun, Chap iwb, throwers in hand..

Can´t help but go on with my constant praising of this little guy.

Naturally I carry it often when I just want to have Sypdie on me but am pretty sure that I actually won´t NEED a knife - it is just such a slim and nice package.

But then I end up "finding tasks" for the Chap, and be it just purposeless whittling on a stick while having a break. Yes, it is a good idea to make the generally super thin and slicey blade a bit thinner behind the edge, but then it performs amazingly.
And the Chap just locks in my hand surprisingly well, despite being so thin handled and small.

dude... you're not supposed to run with knives in your hand! and as far as having something thin and slicey, i was just using a utility knife to carve on a stick the other day and it was way more effective than i expected. i don't know why i thought the razor wouldn't be able to handle it, but it worked very well. i realized a utility knife is all i really need to carry, although i would still always want a se salt knife iwb for emergencies.

Well, I run with THROWING knives in my hand: No edges, just points. I actually have a cheap leather sheath that covers the first one-third of the throwers (and so the tips), but not always bring it - trust me, I know what I am doing. ;)

As for "having thin and slicey" - sure, a utility knife could do the job somehow.

But actually I assume you´re kidding anyway, right? I mean, this forum would loose a lot of its meaning if we´d focus only on "what could do the job" - the Chap is still way superior, overall: Carries much better than a utility knife (especially iwb), gives me great ergos for that thin package and a perfect steel (I don´t need rustproofness, not even on hot, sweaty runs) - and brings me W A Y more enjoyment, just cause it is so great by concept. Superstrong, great cutter, but nothing I would not need in that particular scenario (like fat-blade-on-small-knife or bulky handle)

I think many people would be perfectly served with an utility knives considering the EDC tasks they actually perform - and it would actually be easier to carry an utility knife in a more urban setting than while trailrunning... ;)
