Had to stop by Ace Hardware today and spied this G10 Manix 2, it was the last one so they offered me 10% off. So, it rode in my pocket the rest of the day.

Hard to beat a $110!

That's a good deal! I wish my Ace carried Spyderco. They only carry Buck, Case, and Victorinox.

that looks like a great Delica!
It really is! Very happy with it. I haven't had a PE Delica in a couple years until this exclusive came along. OD Green and Black is one of my favorite color combinations. This blade is also perfectly ground right at 15 degrees from Spyderco as well. A very nice slicer for sure!

Same reason I got one, put a polished convex edge on mine to play with.

I remember reading you posting about convexing your edges lately. What gave you that idea to try going that route, just wanted to try something different?

I had a difficult time trying to get used to sharpening the convex edge on my CRK Inkosi Insingo and eventually gave up and sharpened it to 17dps for ease of mind/sharpening, for myself.

I'm not an "actual' father (stepdad to a 9 year old, though I've been in her life since she was 11 months old), but I guess this works :p

Happy father's day to all you guys out there that are dad's, step dad's, adoptive or foster father's!

Color-matching, works also with shoes... ;)

Ha, Nice buddy!!
Forgive my ignorance but what are you wearing over your shoes? Looks like something for added traction on ice or something.
Sorry for the late reply, but since you did not quote me directly I came across your question just right now.

Yes, you´re basically right: Those are kind of spikes / traction clears one can attach to trailrunning (and other) shoes. (I can recommend these: https://www.amazon.com/-/de/dp/B07KPSZT ... 435&sr=8-3)
Actually they are meant for enhancing traction on ice or steep, hard snow and enable me to wear my beloved trail running shoes in the mountains both earlier and later in the year (the "spikes" are extremely quick and easy to attach and remove, have a really low weight and don´t take up much space in a pack).

But what they are even better yet: Adding grip in very steep grass, mud, soil, all of this mixed with rock and so on - terrain.
Sometimes it would actually be very dangerous to scramble around in such terrain without those spikes, if for example there are vertical walls below you and slipping on the steep terrain above would mean a fall to death.
Most times they are just very convenient, and make scrambling up steep slopes a lot faster, easier and more fun.
Top three going by pocket-time (update March 24):
- EDC: Endura thin red line ffg combo edge (VG10); Wayne Goddard PE (4V), Endela SE (VG10)
-Mountains/outdoors: Pac.Salt 1 SE (H1), Salt 2 SE (LC200N), and also Wayne Goddard PE (4V)

Those traction devices look a lot like the ones I use, but mine are red, and called Kahtoola...

Oh, and I'm carrying my mod'd Salt as I did my "normal" trail miles this morning & afternoon. Pivot seemed a bit gritty when I got home, so I'll give'r a rinse and see from there.

Just something I wanted to play with. And I like it a lot!!!!

Edit*

I guess I should have said I do it on a powered belt system as well.

Trying to dull this at work today so I have an excuse to sharpen it some more. Only been touched up a couple of times so its still quite spikey compared to my H1's.
