Re: What Spyderco is in your pocket today??
Look down on one of my favorite valleys, Pac Salt in the Foreground (Despite its name also a great MOUNTAIN-folder!! :) ):
To the left, the right and in the back of that valley there start many climbs, some "official" trails but even more forgotten, secret steep old hunting- and smuggling pathes (the ridge in the back actually marks the border between Germany and Austria, there was a lot of smuggling going on for centuries and more recently especially between WW 1 and WW2, right after WW2 and actually going on till the 90ies before the European Union was fully in place)

That's a long, long way from the Pacific Ocean where that knife "belongs" :D As usual, amazing views. :)

Half of the day it was a Para 3 w/Maxamet, the other half it was a PM 2 w/52100.

Nice swap!

Re: What Spyderco is in your pocket today??
The very first cuts my newest aquisition performed... :D
(Man, this thing was scary sharp out of the box... and actually has the most perfect and smoothest action of any Manix I handled so far (5 I think). This seems to be a bit of a hit or miss concerning the lightweights from what I read.. ?!)

Very cool! Congrats on a great new knife. I don’t know alot about that steel. Will be great to hear your feedback.Wartstein wrote: ↑Mon Sep 21, 2020 3:37 amThe very first cuts my newest aquisition performed... :D

Loving my newest Spydie.
Re: What Spyderco is in your pocket today??
Thanks! :)
I don´t know a whole lot about steels generally compared to many here.. but I know I´ll like REX 45, since it is essentially like an a bit harder run, not cladded HAP 40 (which is my favorite steel so far). Just hope it is not TOO hard like in "hard to sharpen" (no problems concerning that with HAP 40)...
AND I know already that it´ll develop a nice patina,, since this will not be the only time I use it for cutting food.. :)

Yes, the Delica is just perfect in this size category! A real slicer.
Never had Cruwear, but from what I hear you´ll love it. :)

Re: What Spyderco is in your pocket today??
Going against a bunch of my preferences...but I do like this knife! I have to agree, something about Seki frn is just different. I like it a lot better than what comes on the Golden models, and WAY more than frcp!

Re: What Spyderco is in your pocket today??
Agreed, to meSeki FRN feels better in hand (more "rubbery") than Golden FRN or FRCP.
Especially the latter feels more rigid though.

Re: What Spyderco is in your pocket today??
I find the difference to be more subtle. Seems like the difference is just the finish. Seki FRN has a little more texture so it feels a little better. Golden FRN & FRCP is more smooth so it feels more like a Lego brick. Maybe not as hard as a Lego brick but just as smooth. Yes, I prefer Seki FRN but don't have issue with the Golden stuff
Of all the things I've lost I miss my mind the most!
