Just delivered yesterday, picked the Kapara up on a whim since I had some DLT points burning a hole in my virtual pocket. First impression is... Wow.

CQI Kapara today and yesterday and the day before…Fit and finish is superb and the action is very smooth right out of the box! The blue cloth was also included.

Really been enjoying this one thinned down to 15dps. Definitely a noticeable slicing difference, well worth the time on the CBN rods!

May I ask: How long did it take you to do this on the CBN rods? And would you recommend those over the diamond coated rods for such jobs?

And: How fast do you think the corners of CBN rods will wear out (thinking of reprofiling serrated blades...)?
Top three going by pocket-time (update March 24):
- EDC: Endura thin red line ffg combo edge (VG10); Wayne Goddard PE (4V), Endela SE (VG10)
-Mountains/outdoors: Pac.Salt 1 SE (H1), Salt 2 SE (LC200N), and also Wayne Goddard PE (4V)

As a native fan... WOW! Is that a custom thing or is it something anyone can buy?

It took me around 2 and half hours off the CBN rods alone. I've never used the diamond rods, but hear they are quite similar to the CBN rods but CBN may hold up a little longer. I've now done 3 knives with these and there is still plenty of grit left.

I think the wear factor has to do with how much pressure you apply. So that's tough to gauge because my light pressure may be your medium pressure, or your very light pressure :p I'd suspect they would probably wear a bit quicker though since it's such a small part of the stone making contact with your blade.

Pacific Salt. I’ve been trying it out cutting various materials. After using some strokes on both sides of blade on Sharpmaker white rods the serrations are smoother and don’t grab so much but slice e trembly well. One item that impressed me was not for its toughness but it’s delicate structure: a hard boiled egg. Many knives even when sharp will drag through a boiled egg and break up the yolk in a thin slice. The Pacific Salt smoothly sliced the eggs very thin and the yolks were kept intact.

I expected the chisel grind to cause the blade to not track well through long cuts but it surprised me by slicing very straight and true. Obviously any kind of cord or rope is not a problem. Plastic packaging is nothing to this. Still need to test for edge wear endurance, but so far the sharpened cutting performance far exceeds my expectations.

That's the 40th anniversary Native in Thor Damasteel. I'm not sure if it's still available.

DS93X Thor Damasteel and fluted carbon fiber. The 40th Anniversary Native. I believe National knives, Knifeworks, and a few other places still have it for 360ish.
