Crazy perspective here, that Para 3 looks tiny!
The para was leaning back more than the sage so it looks a bit deceiving

Haven't carried that one in a while now, mostly because I am really more of an SE guy these days- but after all is still my probably favorite model in my probably favorite (PE) steel...

Amazing picture, Wartstein!
You have me longing for some real mountain life now, for sure.
I’m lucky to have beautiful nature and ski tracks literally right outside my front door, but this is on another level. Love it!

Thanks my friend! :smlling-eyes

But, as we´ve talked about already: I was in Norway (and the other northern Scandinavian countries) several times as a younger man: Really amazing nature and wilderness up there too, in a way "wilder" "more remote" than in Austria, really loved it up there in the outdoors!

And should you ever come and visit Austria: Make sure to shoot me a message, I´d be honored if I could show you some great places.
Top three going by pocket-time (update March 24):
- EDC: Endura thin red line ffg combo edge (VG10); Wayne Goddard PE (4V), Endela SE (VG10)
-Mountains/outdoors: Pac.Salt 1 SE (H1), Salt 2 SE (LC200N), and also Wayne Goddard PE (4V)

Both in se is my short term goal👊…you guys across the pond have some stunning scenery!!! Also-you must be in really good shape cause I get winded on the kiddy slope and that’s downhill!!!🤪
Well, as far as I know, there is no shortage on spectacular scenery on your side of the pond either. I’d love to go there some day and see it up close. It’s my long term goal, for when the kids get a little older.
I guess the biggest difference (that maybe skews the impression a bit) might be that the average Norwegian lives closer to wild nature than the average American, so it’s probably more accessible for most. While OTOH the US is so big and diverse. You might have to go a bit longer, to get there, but the payoff should be quite spectacular.

Awesome Aicolainen! I love Puuko's and Leuku's although I'll confess I haven't managed to get a Leuku yet. Definitely a gap in my collection. The Saami people definitely knew what knives worked in their environment and honestly it's hard to improve on the formula of a small knife and a large knife.
Thanks, Bemo!
It’s an understandable gap. They are great knives for a wide range of outdoor use, but most people can get by without one as we tend to have a wide selection of more specialized tools that achieves the same functions. And leuku’s are not always convenient to carry.
I used my Leuku’s a lot in the before times. In my early days as a young hunter and throughout my years in the military, they got a ton of use, and abuse.
In later years my outdoor activity has shifted more toward hiking and backpacking, where weight and pack size is more important than knife size.
It’s a great camp knife though, and it’s still a favorite for the trips that are more focused on camp life and less focused on miles.
I’ve never owned a small leuku (<7”), so there’s a gap in my collection as well. I just never found a need for one.

That green FRCP was really vibrant.
Don't have any myself, only a yellow N5 salt. I like to have my salts in vibrant, visible colors, so I was actually a bit disappointed to realize that the Golden yellow FRCP is quite dull compared to Seki yellow FRN. Kind of interesting that the table seem to have turned this time with the green salts.

Two for Tuesday.

Most days I grab whichever knife suits my fancy. Today, I followed a theme and tried to find two matching knives. I pretty much never carry this Para 3, and am curious to see how much use it’ll get.

Do you ever challenge yourself to carry a knife you don’t ordinarily carry? Any other idea for mixing it up once you have too many knives? :p
I'm happiest with Micarta and Tool Steel.

Top four in rotation: K390 + GCM PM2, ZCarta Shaman, Crucarta PM2, K390 + GCM Straight Spine Stretch.

Very nice…and I do carry the left-outs every now and then;ultimately if I don’t use it tho it goes on the chopping block(will probably never buy a safe queen)…I like to color coordinate/pe•se/all tool steel/all stainless/big•small/med•sm…👊

seriously. i think these two have made a very good case for these taichung knives to be offered in a different scale material. i'm personally not a fan of the cf/g10 that spyderco uses (though it's far less objectionable in person than in pictures). also cf just doesn't look right on this knife to the point that i never even really noticed the model until i started seeing these two with micarta. now i really want one.
keep your knife sharp and your focus sharper.

Those look great!
I'm tempted to get a pair of RGT scales for my P3 even though I quite recently got a pair of Cuscadis. I wanted black canvas micarta for mine, but they only had linen micarta. Figured I'd give it a try. The finish is a bit smoother than I prefer, but I knew that going in. There's still enough traction, and on the positive side it slides easier in and out of the pocket. I think I'd still prefer canvas though.

And yes, I do challenge myself to some extent. Maybe more to get acquainted with different features and knife types and to a lesser degree to rediscover old flames. Right now I'm carrying the Endela thin red line CE, it's brand new so it's certainly not an old flame, but rather solely to try the much hated on CE. It's also my first linered (FRN) Seki model, so I get to try that as well.
I've also tortured myself carrying just a nail nick slip joint for a couple of weeks, so I guess I do actually take it to the extreme some times :)
