CF Dodo. Love this knife.
Love the finish on the thick carbon slabs and minimum use of steel in the handle. The whole point of carbon (and g10, and Micarta before that) was that it is strong enough to eliminate the need for liners, so you could make a really light knife that still feels sturdy. Obviously if it's a liner lock, there wil be at least one liner involved, but I would really love to see more carbon Spydercos using the material for its physical properties rather than its looks. Thick carbon, as light as possible, no liners. I know people will ask what the clip is supposed to screw into, but that can be solved by simply nesting and epoxying a small tapped steel plate into the inside of the handle scale at each of the four clip positions. Benchmade experimented with this concept back in the day with their Zytel-handled, metal-clipped (Spyderco hole included) Ascent models in the late 90's. It didn't go perfectly for them, but I don't feel that the concept was ever fully run out. The first run of Spyderco carbon models (Police, Delica, DF, LBG, Civillian, and eventually the Harpy) was great, but I would have liked them even better without the steel liner and with rougher and more-robust carbon scales like the Dodo. Or imagine an original Micarta Calypso Jr. or Jess Horn in matte Dodo carbon and with a clip that won't pull out. That thought literally turns me on.
I see how wonderfully executed the CF Dodo is, and it makes me want more CF with the barest minimum of liners.
