father and son carry for today
Image
15v manix sprint with brass cage and micarta scales
one of a kind delica from sal to my son

eta: my son has since bought another delica so he doesn't carry this one much, but if you're watching sal, he still carries it and it's still very special to him and to me.

also, i never mentioned it here, but he actually broke the same arm twice more since that first time. everything is healed now and regaining strength, but it's been a rough couple of years and that gift stands out as a bright point for him.

Been this combo for a few days here.
I'm happiest with Micarta and Tool Steel.

Top four in rotation: K390 + GCM PM2, ZCarta Shaman, Crucarta PM2, K390 + GCM Straight Spine Stretch.

That's really cool my man! Definitely one for him to cherish for a long time. My youngest has some models from a very good friend here on the forum. I know he will have those with him for a very long time to come. Something great about those special knives that bond us. Good to remember the best part of this hobby, the people we meet along the way.

Chap on a long trail run in what some might call nasty conditions - rain, mud, snow - I actually find it fun to run then :smlling-eyes

The Chap FRN was my main small running companion for quite some time, till the Salt 2 SE came along.

But I still love that little sturdy-but-slicy Chap, and if it came in SE (and perhaps a wharnie blade...) it would be stiff competition for the Salt.

To those newer to the forum:
Just my opinion, but based on a lot of real experience:

Don't let you fool into thinking the Chap FRN would be just a "light duty gents knife"!

It actually has an extremely sturdy built for how thin it is overall, a rock solid backlock and a strong, but also reasonably thin blade.

I'd recommend trying one to pretty much everyone who loves Spyderco. It's a rather unique and very capable piece, and a real workhorse in the (very) small folder arena!

Top three going by pocket-time (update March 24):
- EDC: Endura thin red line ffg combo edge (VG10); Wayne Goddard PE (4V), Endela SE (VG10)
-Mountains/outdoors: Pac.Salt 1 SE (H1), Salt 2 SE (LC200N), and also Wayne Goddard PE (4V)
