I don’t know where he’s carrying that, but when cycling with a knife in my waistband I like it tip down too. The rest of the time I go tip up if it’s an option.

I've been trying tip down for a few months just to try something different. I don't have a strong preference for either, but I'm enjoying tip down. Front pocket, rear pocket, and IWB, I switch carry positions depending on what I'm wearing.

Awesome! What do you think? I had my Paysan out last night. I love that clunk sound it makes when you flick the blade out!

People are begging for these in the Facebook groups. I'm surprised you found one at all

You carrying all your gear in a backpack? If so I'd definitely take a look at a nice bike bag from Revelate Designs. I keep a tangle on my road bike that's large enough for a pot, fire kit, hammock, bug net, tarp, food, bike repair kit, EDC items, rain jacket etc., then add a Viscacha when I go for overnighters or week + tours.

That's quite a bit of gear! I'll take a look at them. A backpack works but isn't the best option.

This video will give you some ideas.

That's my cross country cycling setup. Everything excluding food & water weighs under 30lbs....bike included. Getting the load off your back and on your bike will mean less sweat and fatigue, so you can ride further distances in greater comfort.

If you try something like this out just try to focus the weight around the triangle of your frame. Overloading a handlebar bag or seat bag makes the bike feel less stable.

Now getting slightly back on topic, this was my load out tonight for a ride out to the lake to finish my book and watch the sunset:

@vivi and @peaceinourtime

Have either of you tried panniers? When I was cycling to work on my Bianchi cyclocross they worked great for a change of clothes and lunch. That was back when we had a shower and lockers at the office, long gone now.

Thanks! That was very indepth of an efficient setup. I already have a small triangle frame bag, but I may have to get a large one like your's.

I've been considering panniers. I'm also looking at a child carrier (trying to find a good way to carry both of my one year old twins :thinking ) and I may be able to rig some sort of pannier up to the carrier.
