What Spyderco is in your pocket today??
Re: What Spyderco is in your pocket today??
Always a pleasure to carry and use another Chaparral. What a perfect knife.

Agreed! Great photo!!
Re: What Spyderco is in your pocket today??
Glad you like it!! :) (And that at least one forum member and not some "nasty, heartless e-bay flipper" got his hands on one of the surprisingly showing up again REX 45 sprints!)
Yes, for me the Manix is a great "small" knife! If you don´t mind closed width (and I don´t) it actually carries pretty small (and with my LWs almost unnoticable), and has a rather short cutting edge, but in return two great grip positions.
I am afraid since you like the G10 Manix now you just have to do yourself a favor and also try the lightweight...
To be clear, I only HANDLED G10 Manixes, but never really used them, so my opinion is of limited value!:; But I think the LW is even more comfortable in hand: Less aggressive chimping, a tad more rounded handle edges, and a fully closed back.. It is also amazingly sturdy and as said should carry even better due to the light weight.
Now if I were you I´d just get the "base" BD1N Manix 2 LW!! BDN1 is great stuff, sharpens really easy to an extremly sharp edge (I feel even better than VG10) and is still not bad in edge retention.
Plus you can choose between black or even ALL black (blade and handle) plus translucent blue with the BD1N Manix 2 LW.
I´d certainly go for the blue one. While I really would not want ALL my knives in such a look, having ONE translucent Spydie is really cool...
Top three going by pocket-time (update March 24):
- EDC: Endura thin red line ffg combo edge (VG10); Wayne Goddard PE (4V), Endela SE (VG10)
-Mountains/outdoors: Pac.Salt 1 SE (H1), Salt 2 SE (LC200N), and also Wayne Goddard PE (4V)

There is almost no way around it. It won’t happen just yet though.Wartstein wrote: ↑Sat Mar 13, 2021 12:28 amI am afraid since you like the G10 Manix now you just have to do yourself a favor and also try the lightweight...

I need to slim down the collection a bit and see where it fits.
And yes, when the time comes, translucent it will certainly be

A combo I threw together a few months back but haven't really carried much since doing so. Not really sure why either, my 2nd favorite Manix!

Outs and abouts..
trying to force the feeling of spring, so spent the day at sea level for a change. Less snow indeed, but not much warmer, unfortunately.
yes, there is a knife in the picture.
Just salts today, Siren in the backpack and Native salt in the pocket

I agree, it's a great combo! I'm surprised we haven't seen more of this combination over the years.BLUETYPEII wrote: ↑Sat Mar 13, 2021 10:52 amSuch a great looking knife!

Yeah. I liked it so much that I ordered a backup for it the next day. Theres only a handful of knives that I do that for. Also having a backup makes me not afraid to use this one as a beater.Cambertree wrote: ↑Fri Mar 12, 2021 2:44 amNice score, Voodoo! :cool:VooDooChild wrote: ↑Fri Mar 12, 2021 12:19 amJust got a hap40 stretch 1. My version of that knife would have to be a pretty close contender for my ‘If you could only have one’ knife.
Thanks. It is nice.M Sea wrote: ↑Fri Mar 12, 2021 4:28 amNice!VooDooChild wrote: ↑Fri Mar 12, 2021 12:19 amJust got a hap40 stretch 1. Definitely a new part of my edc rotation. Really like it.
It is an incredibly good knife. Ergos, size, steel, looks, etc. Like I said its one of the few knives that I ordered a backup for. Kind of need a stretch thread so we can praise them. I had never handled a stretch 1 before, I didnt realize what a great edc it was until I got it in hand. Smaller than the stretch 2 with more cutting edge and a better tip. I always thought the palm swell of the stretch 2 was a little big as well, its perfect on the 1. (Although I like the ergos of both). Its not quite perfect for me, the thumb ramp feels just a little less comfortable than some of the other thumb ramps Ive used. I still think the thumbramp is good though, its not a thumbramp that I dislike like some other models, it was just almost perfect but feels a little off. Considering how great the knife is in just about every way it has definitely become one of my favorite designs.Wartstein wrote: ↑Fri Mar 12, 2021 7:45 amVooDooChild wrote: ↑Fri Mar 12, 2021 12:19 amJust got a hap40 stretch 1. Thanks! :D I got to the beach at just the right time. Lighting was perfect and the setting was photogenic. Would have been a good spot for a potential Calendar entry. I thought about driving back home to get my real camera but figured the light conditions would change too much by the time I got back. The Meat man wrote: ↑Fri Mar 12, 2021 9:29 pmWhoa! Now that is an amazing photo!
