Been a long long time since I’ve been in here. This is one of my most cherished Spydercos, and what I believe the Advocate should had been. Blasted handles and flipper delete.

This Shaman is one of the few knives I actually touch up using the Sharpmaker, vs holding the rod in hand and sharpening that way. These bevels must be a perfect 20dps, because she touches up in no time. Gave it a little love last night for the final stretch of the week. The Microtech is pretty much pocket jewelry today, one of our contractors wanted to see it.

I am carrying mine this week too. Yours looks like an actual custom from Gayle Bradley though. Very nice! :spyder: And just curious, does the bead blasting remove the orange peel texture?

I wouldn’t say it entirely does, but you can barely tell it was there now. Thank you!

Brouwer in the pocket today. It's supposed to be 65 degrees later, and my Christmas tree is up...just doesn't feel right for the Midwest!

Agreed. Same weirdness where I am. Been a strange fall/early winter capping off an even odder year.

Great pic!

Man that looks cold! But I agree, translucent glacier blue would be very cool.

Nice looking edge! Looks coarse and toothy and done well by hand.

Wow! What is that, like 11 dps?? Looks fun

Don't see a lot of reprofiled Rex45's.

Which is a shame, because these hard, high end steels have ridiculous edge life with a thin, coarse edge. That Native looks great.

You really are the only one around here I see post this knife. I honestly forget about it until I see it! Glad you enjoy it, nice to see something different sometimes :)

Thanks guys!

Yeah I went thinner than I planned trying to even out the bevel but I'm glad I did the edge retention is insane and no problems with chipping or rolling. I'm guessing it's sub 10dps...definitely thinnest I've ever gone.

I had my K390 Police hold shaving sharpness for over a month with a similar edge. It just won't quit. Recently took it a little bit thinner since I hadn't experienced any chipping either.

For someone that typically prefers ease of sharpening to crazy edge holding K390 really has me impressed.

Might have to get a Rex45 Chief when those drop. I hear nothing but good things about the steel.

But how "coarse" did you go (looks pretty coarse in the pic)?

Inspired by Vivis posts I momentarely try out coarse edges (with my pretty limited equipment and skills that means right from the CBN sharpmaker rods) on my VG10 Stretch and BD1N Manix 2 LW - works really well so far!
Top three going by pocket-time (update March 24):
- EDC: Endura thin red line ffg combo edge (VG10); Wayne Goddard PE (4V), Endela SE (VG10)
-Mountains/outdoors: Pac.Salt 1 SE (H1), Salt 2 SE (LC200N), and also Wayne Goddard PE (4V)
