STILL one of my Very favorite Spyderco's. The Stretch I
With a very crisp 400 grit edge on it, it effortlessly fell through that quite soft & ripe tomato, plus some cucumber, a lil'bit of onion, and that avocado too

Girlfriend surprised me with a set of snowshoes so we could go find a frozen lake for her to ice skate on. As I cleaned out my daypack in order to pack, this guy tumbled out. I was pleasantly surprised, as I thought I'd lost it over the summer. Time for some lube and a sharpening, but still my favorite hiking knife.
I'm happiest with Micarta and Tool Steel.

Top four in rotation: K390 + GCM PM2, ZCarta Shaman, Crucarta PM2, K390 + GCM Straight Spine Stretch.

With me, you really charge an open door when praising the Stretch 1 ;) - for me certainly among the top three best Spydercos ever, and should not have been discontinued.. Not that the Stretch 2 is bad by any means (actually, in some regards - ergos for really large hands or a bit wider blade for example - it is even better than the "1"), but the Stretch 1 offers some features that are very rare in Spydercos line up and so was a great addition to the palette of Spyderco models.
And first and foremost: It is just an amazing performer, with its particular blade shape, the rather thin grind and long, straight section in the edge.

In fact I carry mine today (came back to the Stretch a week ago or so, after not having carried it for some time).
Here it is in front of the entrance to a cave I visited today.

Para 3 with Maxemet blade steel. A real slicer for sure. Then a base model PM2 in DLC'd S30V. Ya know, so my Maxemet Para 3 doesn't get messed up lol :spyder:
Not to be that guy who corrects someone's spelling, but I figure you might want to know that the steel's name is "Maxamet", not "Maxemet".

Shoot carry.
Wow, looks like a really professional equipment! :)

/ How do you like the Watu? I am really tempted by its thin, slicey blade and the long cutting edge...

And: How do you like the Skeletool? I sold mine eventually (had the 154 cm version). Kind of cool, but I found if one carries a dedicated EDC knife anyway, the Skeletool offers too few additional tools. For me the Juice CS 4 or S2 are the better and more versatile choices. Just my 2c of course

I love the Watu. It's a really slicey blade and the design might not be for everyone, but it certainly looks good to me. PLus 20CV is one of the best out there and the thin grind makes it cut like a laser. Only thing to be worried about is the thin tip, but then this knife isn't for abusing, but for EDC and for gentlemen's carry.

I also love the Skeletool, I have the larger Leathermans but I can comfortably pocket my Skeletool and an AA flashlight on my front pocket. It has certainly saved me a task or two when my tools aren't around.

Thanks for the reply! :)

Watu: I think this could really be a knife for me - I just wish it had the frame lock of the "bigger brother" chokwe (or a linerlock). As said, I especially love the combi of thin, slicey blade and long cutting edge (in a small package) - I think those thin, slicey blades especially profit from long edges

Skeletool: Hope you did not get me wrong, this is an absolutely cool and usefull leatherman and I liked mine a lot!!
Just found that for me the Juice models offer more tools in an even smaller package:
S2 in town, CS4 summer-outdoor (amazingly long and capable saw), XE6 winter-outdoor (the XE 6 has a diamond file, good for sharpening crampons)
And since I carry a Spyderco at all times anyway, I don´t need the better / locking blade of the skeletool, plus the pliers of the Juice series are a bit narrower at the tip, which I prefer, and the screwdrivers offer more reach.
Should you ever consider a Juice: Try to find one of the old, discontinued models (uniformly colored, not one side colored, one side silver) - a bit better quality imho and a longer knife blade with a slight belly
