This knife is an absolute GAME CHANGER. I am amazed. Without a doubt, my favorite knife (possibly of ALL TIME) already. I'm running on 2 hours of sleep but I doubt I'll regret those statements. I am overly pleased with the ergonomics, the blade shape, the sheer weight of the model (I am one of those weirdos that appreciate weight for harder use folders). I had high expectations for the Shaman. I expected it to probably meet said expectations, but they have been exceeded. I don't know if tip down or tip down will have better ergos, but tip up is already good enough. This knife, for better or worse, is going to make me sell some knives. My brand new Chief and titanium military are likely gone so I can get more Shamans. I like the thick blade stock combined with the tall grind to preserve cutting ability. Lockup is rock solid. The pivot tightness is perfect, disengage the lock and the blade doesn't move unless you shake it. Action is smooth as expected. This model is definitely more of a tank than I had previously envisioned. Good job Spyderco.

I know exactly what you mean.

The Shaman is just awsome. And it 's really weird that I would say this. Could handle and try a Shaman twice, my head was telling me: "You should NOT like this knife - too heavy, too thick blade stock, too little actual edge for the overall package, comp. lock not for me"... BUT: It just felt so right and perfect in hand and use, I almost could not put it down again. Will have one eventually for sure, the "basic" S30 V / G10 version is perfectly fine with me, but still a bit pricey (though worth every cent).

Still I have a tiny bit of hope that there will be a backlock-version (hear me: Just an ALTERNATIVE,NOT a replacement of the comp. lock!!! ;) ), since the Shaman somehow belongs to the Native family and all other Natives come in a backlock (too, concerning the Lil Native). I think the Shaman is so popular already, that an additional backlock version would be a success.
Top three going by pocket-time (update March 24):
- EDC: Endura thin red line ffg combo edge (VG10); Wayne Goddard PE (4V), Endela SE (VG10)
-Mountains/outdoors: Pac.Salt 1 SE (H1), Salt 2 SE (LC200N), and also Wayne Goddard PE (4V)

Exhaust flanges for a muffler shop. 3/8" thick steel, 344 of them.

Yep for this customer we typically cut a full 5'×10' sheet up into flanges. This one sheet will take about four hours to cut.

Hey Connor, how long would you estimate it would take to cut with Delica? :p

If the Delica's blade were made of self-repairing, ultra-dense, super hard yet flexible, self-reproducing nanotech diamandoid, it would take no time at all.

Or so I've been told. ;)

I hope he comes back sometime, too.
It seems odd that he hasn't even logged in since that dramatic exit.

I actually just checked the same thing earlier today and was a bit shocked myself. Thought maybe he was just being silent, but he really did just up a vanish. Seems odd, really wasn't THAT big of a deal.

I was recently thinking a couple times to inquire on the Off Topic thread if anyone had heard anything from SEF. I guess not then.
