Sounds like you need a UKPK or Urban! I’ve been favorably impressed Ruth the feel and operation on my Urban, enough to be curious about the UKPK.

Thanks for the suggestion!

But to be honest, in my homecountry I can carry whatever I want, and I like to have a lock on my folders.

And while I cross the border to Germany (with its restrictive knife-laws) quite frequently, most times that's high up in the mountains where I rarely meet people at all and never, ever a cop... ;)

Other than that I am just seldom in Germany, and that in daytime and smaller towns. No one will ever search me then for a knife I am sure, and if it gets a bit more crowded I just don't carry it clipped, but buried deeper in my pocket.

I like the look of the UKPK, cause it reminds me of the Stretch. But additionally to the fact that I want a lock, I think a "smaller Stretch" would not work for me, since there is most likely not enough space on the actual handle for a good four finger grip. On a NON locking folder (if I wanted one) that would not bother me though, cause in that case it's a good idea to have a finger in the choil most times anyway.

Medium voltage cable termination training

Do you use the Maxamet PM3 for working cable/wire? Any issues with edge damage?

Also, how do you like the new Leatherman?

Yeah I used it on the cable today wondering how the edge would hold up. Surprisingly, no visible damage but a section of the belly wasn't biting my fingernail after. It was quick to touch it up on my doublestuff at least.

I like the Free P4 a lot. Not as nice as my swisstool spirit in build, but the ability for one hand opening and with gloves on makes it worth it to me.
That's good to hear. I've been tempted to get something with Maxamet.

I'm planning to replace my Leatherman Sidekick at some point and am considering the new P series. Just like knives, there are many to choose from. I think the Wave/Charge line is at the top of my list right now.

Unfortunately no one I know personally is into knives, most don't even understand my knife-thing at all :(

But yesterday at a BBQ I was lucky, the host turned out to be quite a knife guy.
He once took a course at a locally well known (only amongst KNIFE PEOPLE of course) knife maker (Richard Kapeller) where he could make his own personal knife...
And he actually used it at the BBQ. :)

Sure I took a pic together with my Stretch I carried that evening.
The steel of the custom knife is the Austrian N690, the initials are the ones of the BBQ host (not the knife makers - though in this case the host partly also IS the maker of that particular knife)

According to Tankai, in Hitachi Province, the ikuchi is a "strange" fish sometimes described as a sea snake or eel that seeps an adhesive oil from it's several kilometer long body that sinks ships when it "straddles" them filling the vessels with it's viscid liquid.

This guy has been hogging pocket time almost everyday since getting it. The scales are wearing on me, I actually enjoy them...though will probably swap them with something else pretty soon when I start altering my Manix collection. I'm starting to understand the love of Cruwear. I cut a lot of abrasive material on a daily basis, and Cruwear really does seem to hold that super sharp edge a bit longer than other steels, as well as being very quick and easy to touch up. I've only cut a couple lemons and a few strawberries with it for food purposes and have yet to notice any kind of discoloration/patina.
