While the Szabo is a fun design this is my go to combo. Combined they weigh as much as one Szabo, which is one of the main reasons it's not an EDC for me.
The Pacific Salt gets used for whatever. Loaner, beater, chopper etc. The Manix is kept as sharp as ppssible at all times and used a little more sparingly. Nice having a razor in my pocket at all times, does some killer food prep with the thin, sharp edge. Of course it's more than up for hard use if the situation calls for it :)

This design grows on me more and more as I carry it.
It's funny, I was hesitant to purchase one knowing it was designed for defense rather than utility, and I only carry knives for the latter. Every day I use it, I enjoy it more and more.
The lines are what originally sold me on it. Every few years I see a knife that catches my eye because the ergonomics look like they'd work really well for me. Last one was the Police 3 and it's still one of my all time favorites. Next was the Szabo, and while it looked impractical in use it's anything but that.
The handle is so good on this one for me. I like how thick and meaty it is, and the curves are all in the right places. I love how much clearance there is for my large thumb even when I use the choil, something I wish smaller Spydercos featured. Most designs have the choil right under the thumb ramp and I can't use the knives for any extended cutting because my thumb is too cramped. Not here.
I LOVE the tip! I wish more knives came with such narrow tips! It pierces things so easily compared to say, a stock Pacific Salt or Endura 4. It sits at the perfect angle for me when I grip the knife in a saber grip. Sometimes blade with deep belly have a tip that feels too high, and wharncliffes sometimes place it low...the Szabo's tip just feels perfect in its placement.
I love the negative blade angle. Similar to the Military, yet a bit more angled.
The scales are the best I've used from Spyderco. Grippy yet smooth to the touch. Sounds contradictory, but if you've handled one you'll know what I mean. Just enough surface texture to ensure a good grip, but it will never rip apart pockets. Very eye appealing as well. Easily the most visually distinctive stock Spyderco I've owned. You have to see the Szabo in some nice lighting to really appreciate the depth of the scale pattern.
Love the strong self close. Snaps shut like a bear trap...never going to open in my pocket, that's for sure!
It's such a unique, interesting knife that manages to be incredibly functional. I really didn't expect it to work so well for utility, but it does. Only thing I don't like it how heavy it is, but I've learned to not care about that so much with how much I enjoy using it.
