Very true! I just gotta look into investing in a shovel, the spydiechef isn't ideal for clearing snow...Sharp Guy wrote:Gotta love a good snowstorm!!Mushroom wrote:Spydiechef today. Been moving snow for most of the day! At about 9 inches now, and its still coming!
It's the first real snowfall we've gotten this far east in Mass. too. We've only had some dustings to light cover, maybe an inch at most, until now.
Carrying the Spydiechef again today too.

Re: What Spyderco is in your pocket today??
Same blade as last time, but I figured I'd share a bit about my Doublestuff since it's also a Spyderco.
So I was a waterstone/Arkansas stone guy for a while there, but thought to try out Spyderco pocket stones for portability. I got the Doublestuff to have both fine and medium stones and used ballistol as a honing oil/cleaner. They soon came apart, and I suspect the ballistol was the culprit.
Yes, I know oil isn't necessary, but as on Arkansas stones, it is useful in floating swarf.
I was upset at first, since a combo waterstone of mine had just done the same and then cracked during regular use, but after I realized I could take the glue cleanly off of the inside surfaces, I had an idea. I flattened all 4 sides with a diamond plate, and via loose SiC grit, I coarsened one side of both stones to get 4 different grits.
Lastly, I discovered that they fit snugly in a AA Maglite pouch with a piece of 0.040" kydex in between.
I normally carry this "combo stone" everyday and everywhere, and it has served me well for sharpening all my blades that didn't need major effort.
Sorry this was so long-winded, esp for a picture thread, but I hope it's at least mildly interesting or helpful for someone.

Doubt my setup is going to change until the Police 4 comes out.
Well, I might buy plain edged Tasman Salt actually. Been looking for a PE Spyderhawk in black but they're **** near impossible to find these days.
Attila, have you ever tried regular old sandpaper? I keep a sheet of 1000 grit in my wallet for touch-ups away from home. It does the trick nicely. Lay it on the edge of a desk or flat surface, give the edge a few swipes, and you're back in action.

Today has been Nirvana.

Thank you for the excellent recommendation Vivi, but I keep my wallet intentionally thin.Vivi wrote:Doubt my setup is going to change until the Police 4 comes out.

Perhaps I'll try it out in certain situations, but it's hard to change when my stones are more than adequate and more durable than any one piece of sand paper.
As compromise, I may do both... Keep a piece of paper thinner than 1 card, but also keep the stones handy. In that way, I can have plenty of abrasive capability!

Credit card sized piece of sandpaper doesn't weigh a thing and is at least 10x thinner than a typical card :)
Re: What Spyderco is in your pocket today??
Boring picture, but not a boring knife!
Can you guess the model?

Szabo folder. For such a big knife, it does carry well.
