C101GPS Manix

#1

Post by GreatSyxsuke »

I found a place to acquire this Manix for around $73 total. Given that it is S30V and has G10 scales, is it worth it to buy or should I focus on the Manix2?
Current carry: Spyderco Squeak or Spyderco Pingo (Back right pocket), Paramilitary 2 Black G10 (front right pocket)

Future wants: Karahawk

Not crazy about PS, but, IMHO, the Manix 2 is but a pale shadow of the original C101 Manix.

Depfinatly get it the way these knives go up in price **** send me the link I will take 1.I feel the opposite I had both in hand and I like the 2 better. But there is not to much of a diff.if you like hollow ground blade get the 2 or full flat get the original or lightweight 2.I forgot about the lock that right there makes the 2 much better to me.I don't like lock backs much but it would be good to have one for my collection.

I was slightly mistaken when I read the info. It's the C101GPS2, not the C101GPS, that I saw. Does it still stand to reason as being worth the money or would the FRCP lightweight Manix2 be the better buy? endgame, if you still want the link, I'll PM it when I get to my computer so I can just copy and paste.

I was about to offer you money for that link to the C101GPS. Seriously, it is still a fair price. I suggest getting one and cutting everything you can with it. Enjoy!

This exact knife was the first Spyderco I bought, 6 weeks ago ($86 total at NK-the best price around then). I have 3 other spydies now and another to arrive tomorrow (beware), and this is still the smoothest operating one. It's a great all around utility knife for EDC, but some probably find it a little heavy. The serrations can be useful, but if I had it to do over again, I would have bought one with a plain black blade. The light wt. Manix2 would be a good choice if you think the regular one is too heavy, say, for dress clothes :) but it cannot be totally disassembled, probably not a problem.

My favorite now is the much bigger Manix2-XL with plain black blade, which I think is very similar to the original Manix only with the ball bearing lock, which is amazingly smooth to operate.
