Anybody waiting for Para 2 sprint run instead of trying to buy now?

#1

Post by DougC-3 »

My first Paramilitary 2 is the next thing on my want list, but I would be willing to wait a month or so if I thought I'd have a chance to get a sprint run knife, instead of joining the fray for the ones coming out now. I've been trying to watch for indications of when a sprint para2 might come out, but can't seem to make sense of the hints I see here and there. Has there been some mention of an upcoming sprint run that I've overlooked? Is anybody else waiting for one? (Seems like most people plan to buy now and later too :) )

I'd get one now if you can(if it's at a reasonable price). The regular ones are no slouches by any standards.

I am waiting for the mythical fluted carbon fiber para 2, which has been hinted at but never revealed in pictures on the intertubes. I am still kicking myself for passing on a factory second CF para 2 that I could have gotten cheap.

I wouldn't expect any sprints coming anytime soon. I would guess all their energy now is focused on getting caught up regular production. The only upcoming sprint that I'm aware of is the blue M390 Para 2 that BBS says they expect to get sometime in 2014.

I'd get one of the standard models if you can. The regular para 2's are great and S30V is no slouch of a steel.

Don't forget the Green CTS-204P that is rumored to drop in the next month or two.

I'm trying to holding out for a sprint but I may not be able to resist once the paras are back in stock at decent prices.

The pre-orders on that one sold out almost a year and a half ago and I assumed those were all spoken for. You might be able to snag one if you are lucky, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

Spyderco is making them. CS had couple dozens earlier this week. All of them (one per person limit) were sold within hours. If I would be looking for one, I would get on waiting list with every dealer who has it.

What he said. I missed out on the pre-order too and is hoping to snag a couple on the secondary market.

I was one of the few who got one from CS yesterday. CS doesn't have a waiting list, but I follow their notifications on Facebook. I've been waiting (as patiently as possible) for Jeff to have some in for quite some time as I rarely buy from anyone other than him. So, to answer the OP's question, I am not waiting on a sprint run. I'm happy with the black G-10/satin finished S30V for mine.

That is some kind of Para love!

I wish it hadn't taken me two years to love my digicam S30V. Now I have to play catch-up and pay through the nose! But at least I have an blue M390 on the way.

Here is my suggestion. Email knifeworks and ask to be put on a waiting list if anyone backs out from the purchase. There is a number of people always back out when it comes time to pay. If you are lucky, you will be able to get one.

If you don't make it on the list and get one for $140-150ish, you can always pay secondary market prices and get one for $250+ over the following couple weeks. :)
