Saber grinds, combo blades are to my liking. I never was a fan of FFG...it's like it's all show and no go, except for delicate cutting tasks.

I would say the exact opposite. Sabers look tougher and may help you from breaking something if you're into prying, but those are about the only advantages I see. Sabre grinds are much more obtuse and have to move material out of their way much more abruptly. Try a FFG and a saber blade back-to-back cutting cardboard or apples or anything else that the blade goes completely through. FFG is much easier to slice through those materials.

I never thought of asking someone to serrate a PE knife. I was thinking of finding someone to FFG a SE knife. Have you seen their work for aftermarket serration grinding?
