Help! with merlin

Postby pma45 » Sat Sep 21, 2002 12:00 am

I just bought new old stock Spyie blade Merlin.

I am worried about the way the blade sits in the grip went the kife is closed.

The blade sits very high and you can get cut or the blade will open if it is hooked on something.

Is this right or is this the reason the harpy is made and can it be fixed by factory??

If the tip of the blade is covered by the handle, it should be OK. My Harpy and Civilian have never bitten me, nor come open in the pocket.

The Merlin is just a hawkbill blade attached to a Delica handles, so it won't fit like the initial blade (the Delica). However, is well designed and it is likely that you won't experience troubles with it unless there is a manufacturing problem. If when closed you can see the tip or the edge of the blade than you should better send it to the factory.

Hi pma45,
I never carry my Merlin, but I attached an image of how mine looks closed. In the closed position the tip touches the inside back of the handle)
I hope this helps.

The first thing I did when I got mine was rig it for left hand carry... it's been in my Left/Front pocket for 3 weeks as of the 19th...

The sides come about 1/2 way up the hollow grind, and I was worried about the look at first, but I haven't had any problems. It stays closed(even when tossed on the belt for easier access when biking), even it I brush up against it.

The tip on mine makes contact with the inside of the handle.

*Our greatest triumph comes not from NOT falling down, but from getting back up every time.*
