Already have a small Seb...Sage 2 worth it?

Hey guys,

For some reason (could just be an addiction) I am itching to buy the Sage 2. I already have a small Sebenza, which I LOVE. Is the Sage 2 worth it if I already have a small Seb? Is it EDC worthy over the small Seb??

Of course the Sebenza is a great knife...........but
Sold all my Sebenzas. Kept the Sage 2.
The Sage 2 is much more hand frendly. I always had to be alert with the Small seb from it slipping in my hand. The feel of the sage 2 is it's big atvantage.
The fit and finish are very close to the Seb.
There is NO break in, NO learning how to open it as with the Seb.

I don't own a Seb but know the Sage2 has a nice opening hole and comfortable choil grip. If those things are important it's got an advantage.

Another knife in the same vein that you might consider is the Techno. I LOVE mine!

Love my small Sebs. But the Sage 2 is also one of the best folders in knifedom and a steal at the price.

Definitely worth getting the Sage 2. The small Sebenza is a great knife and I enjoy mine but the Sage is hard to beat for the money.

I would also recommend the Techno. IMO, the Techno seems closer to the small Sebenza in build quality than the Sage 2.

For those times when you don't wanna carry a Sebenza: yes

The small Sebenza is a great knife, no doubt. The two primary things that a Sage has over the Sebenza are a Spyder hole and a deep cary clip. FWIW I sold my Sebenza and kept the Sage. I didn't sell my Mnandi, although now that I have a Bradley Air, it might go too...

Well if you lose a Sage 2 you are out less money than if you lost a Sebenza.

And the HT on the sage is a lot better then the sebenza in terms of edge holding

If there is one thing that I never understood is why since the Sebenza has been around for 20+ years they haven't improved anything about the ergos of the model. I just don't get it.

You simply can't compare the Sebenza Small against the Sage 2 in ergos. They're just in two different planets.

That said, the F&F of the Sage 2 is simply outstanding. Very hard to believe such huge quality for the price.

And as some of the folks here said, I know a lot of people who changed their Sebies for a Sage 2 or for a Techno.

But the thing is that they changed it like forever!

Small Insigno with micarta inlays is a great knife ! Sage 2 is too bulky for my taste.But for the money, Chris Reeve could use a better steel.Or to improve the HT of their S35VN.
The only Spyderco I chose over a small insigno is the Delica FFG in ZDP189....Or Southard flipper... or....any other Spydie with a super steel blade.In my philosophy the heart of a knife is the blade.And the heart of the blade is the steel.

I'm with Gull Wing, sold Sebenza still carry the Sage 2. Sage is much more comfortable to use...IMHO.

I like the straight handle of the Sebenza better, the F&F can't be beat, and it gives you more blade edge in a smaller package.

The Sage 2 doesn't fit my large hand unless held in the choil position, but when held in the choild position it feels better in hand that the small Sebenza.

They're very different knives, so I think you need both.

You don't mess up a good thing. The straight handle is the thing I like most about the ergos of the Sebenza.

I held a Sebenza once, and it just didn't click. It looked like a great knife, really nice F&F, but the ergos didn't do it for me. The Sage 2 looks a lot more comfortable, but I'd recommend trying to hold one first.

If you don't understand that principle now, you never will. What should a Buck 110 look like by now? There may not be too many models out there that can make that boast and I'd say CRK and Spyderco can both do it.
