TSA Will Permit Knives on U.S. Planes

TSA Will Permit Knives, Golf Clubs on U.S. Planes
The U.S. Transportation Security Administration will let people carry small pocketknives onto passenger planes for the first time since the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, along with golf clubs, hockey sticks and plastic Wiffle Ball-style bats.
The agency will permit knives with retractable blades shorter than 6 centimeters (2.4 inches) and narrower than 1/2 inch at the widest point, TSA Administrator John Pistole said today at an aviation security conference in Brooklyn. The change, to conform with international rules, will take effect April 25.
Now, which Spyderco fits the bill?

I am wondering if April 25 of 2013 or ........20XX?

It's 2013. And all locking folders are out.

Is the Kiwi narrower than 1/2 inch at its widest point?

In EU you can already fly with blades under 6cm and no corkscrew on the knife. However most places still pretend to be anti any sharp object on board.

press CTRL F and search for "knife" in the text.

That is why the TSA is doing it here, so that the rules are uniform across the various destinations.

I wonder if "retractable" is different than "folding"?

I can't think of any Spydie other than the Bug or maybe Honeybee with a blade narrower than a half inch.

How about a ladybug. I don't have one to measure so if anyone else could that would be appreciated. Thanks.

"The agency will permit knives with retractable blades shorter than 6 centimeters (2.4 inches) and narrower than 1/2 inch at the widest point." I wonder is that the blade length or closed length?

Ladybug3 is 3/4 inch wide and the Ladybug 1 is a little less but not under 1/2 inch

I have just designed a liner lock that fits the standards...but the "Hole" is 6mm due to the narrowness of the blade...
I do not have a "Hole" licence yet, so I cannot do anything with it right now...

Why does it need to be narrow? My dodo was so close! :(

Seems like Spyderco will need to come up with a knife just for flying.

Yup, I knew that, I was just refering to my design...
It is actually easier to do it as a slip joint, and that is what I might do when I get some free time...
Grade 1 Titanium scales, and three 3/16 inch pivot bolts...all interchangable if and for when the blade pivot wears...not gonna say any more...
