I believe Sal himself has said before that they have never always gone for the full spit and polish on the blade finish. Now that said, maybe the extra course finish is from the rush to fill the huge demand and cover the backlog since everyone has been itching to get a Yo2 and could never find one anywhere in stock.

This is pretty much how mine looks. I never really gave it a second thought..I figured it was something to do with making the grind and that's just how it turns out. Mine did have a jacked up bevel though, at the tang it's ground about twice as high as the rest of the bevel, and even after reprofiling it myself you can still see it. At the time, they were so hard to get I just let it go but if they were readily available I might have traded it in for a different one.

Sithus, you're right: the grind marks on mine are extra coarse, more so than those in DigitalUrbanCamo's pics. I believe it all has much to do with the urgent production schedule for this much in demand model, as I mentioned in an earlier post.

I just received my Yojimbo 2 and I think it's the finest out-of-the-box Spydie I've held since the D2 Para, which has been my 'yardstick' for years. It is perfectly smooth, balanced and finished. I couldn't be happier with it!

Thanks Sal, Eric, Michael, and company!

Regards,
Ira
