**** yes !!!!! <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>

A lot less chance of your thumb slipping off when opening.

Walk softly, carry a big stick.

of course! the hole is the greatest thing in folders since uh... bread slicers...

I think my dream folder would be a buck-strider with a spydie round hole and a BM axis lock. think, they'd all get together and do a 4 way collaberation?

The <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0> hole is great! It's one of the reasons I like <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0> so much.

hmm... in 3 yrs I've purchased 13<img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>s, and given 5 away as gifts...

does this question really need to be asked?

What's a <img src="http://www.spyderco.com/forum/uploaded_ ... gspidy.gif"> without the round hole? I just can't find words to describe such a briliant idea!

Yep. Aside from a Speedsafe Kershaw w/flipper, a <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0> is the only knife that can be easily opened whilst wearing gloves.

Keepin' it real...real sharp, that is.

Beside the ease of opening I really like the fact that there is no sideways stud/disc/... extending on the side of the blade (except on the Salsa : cobra hood) because when you carry such a knife in your waistband (as I do) shirt/pants get chewed up.

The <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>hole is hands down the best mix of easy and fast in a folder. The Emerson wave, I've heard, can be faster, and some with the large textured, bezeled thumb studs can be easier (I've seen a lot of Delica knockoffs with large thumbpads like this), but the Spyderhole is simple, fast, easy to use, and easy to maintain (just swab it out with a cotton rag and some polish once in a while to get rid of any rust).

One of the best ideas I've heard to improve the <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>hole would be to have an available textured bezel ring in the hole. That way, what you grip doesn't rotate around your thumb. It would be cool, but it's definitely not necessary.

To quote the elegantly eloguent Transistor, " The HOLE! There is but one Hole! All others are merely cheap, wannabe imitations. Imitation IS the sincerest form of flattery! Long live the Hole! The one, true Hole! The Spydie-Hole!!!!!!!!!!"

All God's creatures have claws and God must surely carry a <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>co! Bless the almighty hole!!!

Stay safe! Stay sharp! <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>

What is life but a Hole? A round <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0> Hole, that is! <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0><img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0><img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>

Repeat the mantra - "Spydie is good, Round is all - Life is Round, Life is Good, Spydie is Life is Round is LIfe. Round and Round, and Round forever."

My sig from Bladeforums:

<BLOCKQUOTE><font size=1 face=arial>quote:<hr height=1 noshade>"..And in those days the mad prophet Glesser did come unto the knife knuts, and He did speak of The Hole, and the knife knuts did see that The Hole was good, saying 'Yea, and verily shall we carry holes all the days of our lives!'"

This is a great example of where "less is more". Less steel in the blade (where the hole is drilled), equals much more (and better) performance because of it.

I've handled many high quality folding knives since I began my Spyderco infatuation, and each time I end up setting them down thinking "Now if this beautiful knife only had a Spyderhole in the blade...it would be useful to me".

Jazzman beat me to the punch, but here is what a Spyderco without the hole is, the Spyderco Jess Horn C27.
