What's a without the round hole? I just can't find words to describe such a briliant idea!

I'm with Jeff on this one,
if it doesn't have the clip, or Hole, it ain't a Spydie and I DON'T WANT IT!!!
Survive, Adapt, and Overcome...

The hole is hands down the best mix of easy and fast in a folder. The Emerson wave, I've heard, can be faster, and some with the large textured, bezeled thumb studs can be easier (I've seen a lot of Delica knockoffs with large thumbpads like this), but the Spyderhole is simple, fast, easy to use, and easy to maintain (just swab it out with a cotton rag and some polish once in a while to get rid of any rust).
One of the best ideas I've heard to improve the hole would be to have an available textured bezel ring in the hole. That way, what you grip doesn't rotate around your thumb. It would be cool, but it's definitely not necessary.

To quote the elegantly eloguent Transistor, " The HOLE! There is but one Hole! All others are merely cheap, wannabe imitations. Imitation IS the sincerest form of flattery! Long live the Hole! The one, true Hole! The Spydie-Hole!!!!!!!!!!"
All God's creatures have claws and God must surely carry a co! Bless the almighty hole!!!
Stay safe! Stay sharp!

Yes, I like "the hole". If I didn't, I wouldn't be here..

My sig from Bladeforums:

quote:
"..And in those days the mad prophet Glesser did come unto the knife knuts, and He did speak of The Hole, and the knife knuts did see that The Hole was good, saying 'Yea, and verily shall we carry holes all the days of our lives!'"

This is a great example of where "less is more". Less steel in the blade (where the hole is drilled), equals much more (and better) performance because of it.
I've handled many high quality folding knives since I began my Spyderco infatuation, and each time I end up setting them down thinking "Now if this beautiful knife only had a Spyderhole in the blade...it would be useful to me".
