Enuff Blanks...

I feel sheepish to even ask...but any chance that Spyderco might release some Enuff blanks for us to play with? I love the MULE team, but after seeing the Enuff with its scales off I really want a blank.
Spyderco is so good that I hate to ask for anything!

The plastic is what makes the Enuff so expensive - that tooling needs to be amortized. An Enuff blank sold witthout a sheath at the normal profit margins would probably cost a third as much. I don't think it's an unreasonable thing to ask for.

Been dreaming about some Enuff Leaf Blade with some IronWood Custom Scales! :D

Selling them as blanks might also cannibalize sales of the scaled versions - which could lower Sal's profit margin... Tough decision, business-wise...
Has anyone posted pictures of the Enuff blades with the scales off? I'd be interested to see the pattern of holes and their sizes.

I might buy a blank with no sheath. I'm not interested in the Enuff otherwise. So there might be additional sales instead of cannibalization. Besides, how many people want to make their own scales and sheaths? Not very many, I'll bet.
Somebody did post a picture of the Enuff without scales. I don't have the time to go hunting now, but it's pretty recent ...

Someone asked before, and without a caliper I estimated with a ruler that they were some thing like 9/64, with flats like a pivot.

Thanks, Sithus. I think I do remember seeing your shots before - my memory must be going.
I didn't notice the d-shaped holes until you mentioned them. This would be a little bit of a problem for attaching custom scales. It would probably mean that customizers would need to ream out the holes - and on hardened steel, that would require a little effort (not to mention carbide bits and a drill press). Oh, well...

I'm not a tool and die guy or a machinist by trade, but I did enlarge the holes on my MT01 and I'm here to report that it can't be done without carbide tooling and even then you are likely to break or chip the carbide faces of the tool(s). You could spend almost as much on tools as you did on the knife...
