Manix 2 lightweight black handle

#1

Post by Gary W Graley »

Sal and Crew, amazing knife and good value there, just got mine today, wow is it light but feels strong, I added a braided leather fob and pewter skull, which I'm wont to do from time to time and I think that doubled the weight of the knife ;)

I hope some of these MANY threads posted on the forums get relayed to those that work for Spyderco, I'm sure it would certainly give them a very good feeling of a job well done.

Thanks again,

How does it compare to the regular one?

Much lighter, but same great ergonomics. It's quite sturdy for being linerless. FRCP seems to be stiffer than FRN.

Do the black ones have a pinned or screw-together pivot?
I'm happiest with Micarta and Tool Steel.

Top four in rotation: K390 + GCM PM2, ZCarta Shaman, Crucarta PM2, K390 + GCM Straight Spine Stretch.

Judging by the picture posted above, It looks like a screwed pivot.

I am torn. I really like the look of the Manix 2 lightweight (especially now that it has a screwed pivot), but I also like the Stretch. Which would you choose? I am a little worried that the Manix will be a tad too big for my pocket!

The scales are a little thick but not overly so, seemed to carry fine in the pocket, I've since sold mine, but I did like it very much, it was too light for me, go figure eh? I recently picked up a Carbon Fiber Caly 3.5 that is a very trim knife, it would carry a lot easier in the pocket and yet has more cutting power without being too large.

Manix has a w i d e r handle.
Stretch not so.
If you have short fingers(I do) the Manix is a bit of a STRETCH for the fingers.

Nice in black!

I would pick the Stretch over the Manix lightweight. I've had both.

Don't have a Manix but have handled the lightweight model, does not compare with the Stretch.

It may be too early to ask this question, but how do you like the bd1 steel?

I only had it a short time but I liked how well it took an edge myself.

Hi,

I was thinking about this knife but keep thinking it wouldn't be as strong without liners. What do you think?

Thanks.

That would be a big question for me as well, how long it holds an edge and how easy
it is to get the edge back. The steel is the main reason that I haven't bit yet.

I wouldN:t worry about the strength without the liners.
The lack gets the weight down.
It's a trade off I guess.
