My first order, what was yours?
My first order, what was yours?
Hi everyone,
This is my first real post to this forum. I just wanted to let you know that, after some advice I got from a fellow poster, I cancelled my order at knifecenter.com and ordered a resque from Linda Hartt.
This is my first knife from spyderco.
A friend of mine, who was killed in Yougoslavia, owned a resque (old orange one). He said it was one of the best knives (or knivebrands)there was. Recently I decided I wanted to have the same kind of knive he had.
I was wondering what your first knife from spyderco was, and why you bought it.

Bohr ~ Welcome to the forum. Sorry to hear about your friend.
My first was the Spydercard and Spydewrench, bought them last July after being intrigued by the trademark 'round thumbhole' and the fact that a lot of these distinctive knives kept appearing on various movies and television programs.

I THINK that my first Spydie was an Endura that I bought 8 or 9 years ago.

My first was a Delica SE, that I used and abused everyday for about a month. As much as I used it, until I bought an Endura, it just kept cutting and cutting and....
As a warning, though, I bought my first just earlier this year and now I'm up to 14 of them. This goes to show that once you are bitten by the bug, there is no turning back. Do I want a cure for this virus?? NO!! Just more Spydies.

Mine was a PE Aluminum Cricket, about 3 years ago.
Someone showed it to me once and I like the 'all steel' look. I found one at 'Trek & Trail' in Den Haag. I bought it for 75 guilders ($30) (The price of a FRN Cricket )
It was my EDC, but that job is now handled by my PE or SE G-10 Navigators.

My first was the FRN Delica PE. I bought it in '94 after seeing the Endura in a movie (but I didn't know what it was). I bought the Delica because it was the first knife I had found since seeing the movie. Spyderco quickly became my favorite brand of knife, and still is.

Howdy Bohr and Infotree! Welcome to Land!
My first was the 50-50 Endura. I was shopping around for a good small EDC, and tried it on. The feel immediately said "Buy me" so I did. Who'll argue with a 3.5" piece of sharpened steel?
Keepin' it real...real sharp, that is.

My first Spyderco was a Ladybug. I was really in the market for a good quality medium sized folder, but wasn't sure what company to go for. I was also on the lookout for a small keychain knife, so when I saw the Ladybug I thought it would be a good way to test drive a Spyderco.
Several Spyderco's later I still have the Ladybug on my keyring.
Walk softly, carry a big stick.

My first Spydie was an Endura SE purchased about 10 years ago. It introduced me to both the wonderful new design concepts and terrific quality of Spyderco, and a steady trickle of Spydie knives have made it into my ownership since then.
I should mention that I no longer own that particular knife. A few years ago I gave to a police chaplain friend who feels much more secure on his late night ride-alongs with his endura clipped to his pocket. Give a knife to a cop or a firefighter; it'll find a good home!

welcome aboard Bohr,
mine was Ladybugs. that was in Sept 99 while i was looking for Worker when i heard there's a shop selling Spyderco in Malaysia (Worker was not available then and even now)
it was followed by Military after 8 days. then Rookie, Endura and the last are Police.
Actually the Endura or Police (i can't remember which one) are a toss against numbered Starmate. (understood that the numbered Starmate with Samo after a few days)
i'm still eyeing the Worker till now

Welcome on the forum Bohr,
I'm also living in Groningen and that's the place where I bought my first Spydie. August 2001 I was looking for a multi-tool as an EDC. Because of its looks and functionality the Spyderco SpydeRench PE was my first choice.
