About CTS XHP:
CTS XHP is air hardened, high carbon, high chromium, corrosion resistant blade steel. It exhibits exceptional hardness similar to that found in tool steels such as D2, but also offers corrosion resistance on par with high chromium stainless steels like Type-440C.

The powdered steel manufacturing process renders the steel’s ingredients and its carbides with a more consistent grain size. When grains are similar sized, the result is a more homogenized steel structure. For the person cutting with the blade this translates into higher-performing knife steel that has exceptional wear and corrosion resistance and long lasting edge retention. CTS XHP contains hard vanadium carbides further augmenting its hardness level to produce a keenly sharp cutting edge and surface finish. Even exposed to moisture, petroleum products and organic materials it exhibits exceptional corrosion resistance.

Special Discount for Blemished MT16P:
There are some MT16P Mules that have a blemish from grinding that will also be made available at a discounted price of $49.95 each. These will NOT be notched. Blemishes vary so please be advised that the SFO crew cannot hand pick or inspect individually prior to shipment of your order. The discounted CTS-XHP Mules will be under the model # MTXHP. Maximum Purchase Allowed: 2

What is the Mule Team:
For those of you unfamiliar with our Mule Team Project, it is unique to Spyderco. In-house we call knife samples designed and built for testing and evaluation Mules. We know a healthy percentage of knife users are interested in different blade steels and their performance abilities. Running with that, we released an ongoing Mule Team Project. Several times per year we unveil the same single-piece fixed blade patterned knife in a different and exotic blade steel. This lets steel-obsessed knife knuts test, try and use something normally not offered to the industry. Product runs are limited to 600 – 1000 pieces of each steel type depending on foundry requirements.

Mule Blades are leaf-shaped with a sharpened and finished PlainEdge blade but with an unfinished handle providing a do-it-yourself opportunity. The unfinished handle has a series of holes for attaching custom handle scales or for wrapping with para-cord. Each piece is sold without handle scales or a carry sheath focusing the project on the blade steel. This opens endless creative possibilities for the owner to design their own handle scale and carry options.
There is nothing more important than this one day.

Fantastic. And just in time for Christmas. I'll be taking a couple of days off over Christmas and just have to decide what material for handles. I'm eyeing a piece of stabilized pecan that I have on hand.

I'm assuming we can order two total, whether they're the regular or blemish. I love the price as well.

Stupid question but, is it 09:00 AM MST ?
Because I need to convert it to my local GMT time and I am not familiar with MST.
If it is 09:00 AM MST, it means 16:00 GMT, so, as I'm living in a GMT+1 time zone, I will just be back from work. :)

I don't think it's a stupid question at all, between time zones and the way we play with Daylight Savings Time :) . Yes, I believe Colorado is MST, so I'll be ordering at 10:00 am CST.
