first post not first spyderco

#1

Post by chuckd »

Hey guys,

Finally decided to join a forum to discuss my growing addiction to knives with a significant emphasis on spydercos.

I got my first spyderco in middle school (im 22 now) and have been accumulating them since and can not get enough.

I ordered a Tuff not even an hour ago and will be getting a Schempp rock and im hoping to also get a Vallotton too.

I have a few more but will have to pull them out of the bedside table later.

Usually EDC my kopa or UK pen knife but my favorite is my embassy because that thing is friggin sweet.

thanks all and lets talk spyderco

Thanks!
And I believe it was a ladybug II. Still have it too. Then I switched to the rescue 79 and carried that for a few years then the collection took off and I rotate EDC now.

cant wait for the Tuff and Rock

Welcome. Coming here is like a compulsive gambler moving to Vegas! ;)

This forum has cost me a lot of money over the last few years.

The Valloton is Spydie porn! You'll love how it feels in your hand.

Here are the spydercos I have as of yet with the Tuff Rock and hopefully a Valloton on the way.

Anybody have the best way of bending a pocket clip flat again? It hooked on a seatbelt when getting out of the car once and is about .5 inches elevated off the frame.

Nice collection.

About the clip. You may be able to remove it and bend it. Two pair of pliers or a vise and one pair of pliers would be all you need. It is difficult sometimes to get the tension just right though. You should try calling the Spyderco Factory Outlet (SFO) and see if they have any for the knife you have. They sell them for $6 or $7 I believe.

Wait, I forgot, welcome to the forum. :)

Welcome Chuck, you have great taste in knifes, a nice collection.
It is addictive though. Every time that you think that you have enough
for a while, something new comes along or someone posts a picture
of one that you hadn't thought about.

First of all "chuckd" welcome to Spyderville :) You've really caught my attention as I see you also have a stainless Mariner model. That was the very first Spyder I ever bought back in 1995.

Personally I'm a huge fan of Spyderco's great Hawkbills i.e. Harpy, Spyderhawk, TASMAN ect. I'm also a big fan of the Spyderedge ( Spyderco's unique serrated edge). Check out some of Spyderco's hidden classics like the G-10 Harpy, C-54 big Calypso and the C-44 Dyad if you haven't already.

Enjoy your stay here and keep us posted. A lot to learn and a whole lot more to put on your "Want List" as mine gets bigger all the time. And keep your eyes out for the Sprint models that come about every now and then. Welcome aboard :)

I have added to my "want" significantly in the past few days. I graduate in a week from today and am restraining myself from making more purchases. I have been eyeing the hawkbills and like the blade design. I have tried a microtech with a similar blade shape and it was a great knife.

for now I have to learn more about the variety of steels and their benefits and such.

That mariner was one of my dad's knives he gave me several years ago, I love carrying it but that is unfortunately the one with the bent clip which I will be working on fixing in a week.
