Pocket Clip with Rubber Insert

#1

Post by jhillas »

Anyone else have a problem with the rubber insert on the pocket clip for the Pro-Grip?

It just doesn't "slide on" very well, it almost takes two hands, or I have to hold the clip open to get it to clip over a cloth pocket. I hate it.

Does anyone know if it will wear in? Anyone else have this observation/problem?

Cutbait,

The non-slip clip is one of the features that normally sells the Pro-Grip. It is excellent for someone who does things like motorcycle or horseback riding. The knife will stay where you put it. It will loosen a little bit over time, but not too much.

Thanks Linda,

I guess I figured it would loosen a bit with time, but I think I'll try and swap the clip with a plain stainless one from one of my other spydercos.

BTW, I'm still looking forward to the VG-10 Progrip that will be one the way to me from you soon! I'll maybe change out that clip too!

Those double rubber clips solve the problem of "lost" Spyderco's.

The plain metal clips can easily let you knife de-clip themselves. IIRC, the original thinking on these was to maximize grip security.

I have one of the Evolution Workers. I find the clip a bit cumbersome, but if I were to field carry one of these, the security that it isn't going to fall off is a major advantage.

Howdy Cutbait! Welcome to <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>Land! <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>

The non-slip clip would be a plus for most people, but if it is annoying to you, there's a solution. Call up <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0> and request a metal clip and screws.

Typically, a clip is very inexpensive, so replacing it wouldn't be a problem. This also keeps a clip on all your <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>s, and the rubber coated one in reserve.

Keepin' it real...real sharp, that is.

Thanks S&S for the warm welcome.

I probably will call the company about a replacement clip. I've got a new VG-10 model coming from LG, and will wait a bit. I may ask to buy two new plain clips from the company, one for the progrip I have, one for the new one on the way.

I will also need to purchase an appropriate phillips before trying to change anything. A stripped screw would be not be good.
