(2013 UKPK Discontinued ) Death or Rebirth?

#1

Post by swampfoxoutdoors »

I have noticed quite a few folks concerned over the possible death or rebirth of the UKPK.

I personally will hate to see the knife go if that is the case. My UKPK Maroon drop point plain edge is by far my most carried knife!

As others have probably read in the discontinued list thread it is rumored that the UKPK will be coming out in a FFG version.

If their is a rebirth of the UKPK as a UKPK2 I personally would like to see a stiffer spring, more colors (I mean A TON of new colors!) and if possible make the knife weight even less that the current 1.9oz! I think that is the main reason I carry my UKPK most often is the weight or absence their of.

Forced to guess I'm thinking we will see something in the line. It's a market they have committed to and already invested a large chunk of cash in a FRN injection mold.

FFG, just making black, not sure. Just a guess but in wouldn't bet on it proofing permanently.

It's not really a rumor. Spyderco Staff (Michael Janich) said they were making a FFG version.

Shouldn't be too long before we know. If the past few years are any indicator, the PDF version of the 2013 catalog should be out within a month, unless someone from the Spydercrew chimes in before then with details.

It would seem unlikely that they will disappear after investing in the molds. I do hope that they reappear with a stiffer spring and FFG.
So many knives, so few pockets... :)
