I'm with you, Evil. Never been able to pull the trigger and get one - although the sub-$100 closeout pricing is making it very tempting...

I have always liked the Persian 2, I seriously hope they bring it back in some form with a different handle material. The PPT absolutely needs a new pocket clip. I had to order the Superleaf and the Breeden though, something about those knives speak to me. :)

Hopefully that is still the case!
I'm sure this will still hold true. Sal has commented several times about how open the market is for slipits due to the restrictive knife laws throughout Europe. I'll definitely own more UKPKs if they are FFG. I'd also love to see them in FRCP rather than FRN as SolidState suggested, although only if they can keep the same price point.

IIRC the fully serrated FRN UK Penknives were discontinued earlier. With all the attention given to the slipits over the past few years, I betting that it has to do with making room for new slipit models like the UKPK 2 that was mentioned.

As A UKPK fan I'm concerned. A new FFG version would be greatly appreciated. By the way, IMHO the split spring version is a significant improvement.

The PPT? Toast already? I'll need another back-up for my back-up, then.

Sorry if I've missed something but what knife is Sal referring to? The UKPK? If it is the UKPK what does he mean by "..we STILL have.."? That's almost to good to be true but, if so, i can't find it. Thanks to anyone who can clarify my confusion!

Now if they would just do the UKPK in S30V again.

Well, this made me get off my rear and order a PPT like I've been thinking about for the last year. Still debating the Superleaf (It seems too much like the OG Manix that I have), and a color for a UKPK, if there's any left next pay day.

The Chokwe going away makes me sad. It's an incredible knife that quickly became a favorite shortly after I bought one, and I rely on it all the time.

Not really surprised at the byrd Wings, though. Compared to the Dyads and the Wings Slipit, it was just sorely lacking in build quality. It was the only Spyderco knife I've had to send in because of out of the box warranty problems, and the replacement wasn't a whole lot better. It's a good concept, but I think the factory where they were made couldn't do it justice at the knife's price point.

I think by "still have", he meant that the black FRN version will live on but with a FFG blade. Since the black FRN version is an existing model it will live on; however, it is on the discontinued list because the FFG blade change will require a different SKU number in the Spydie system.

... and the 2014 shopping list begins...
Maybe I'll do a UKPK but I agree there must be new ones coming up, only reason to discontinue so many.
Still knives on the 2012 list I want, but some of these are unique. We'll see what happens

The deep pocket clip is one of the best things about the PPT. I wish more Spydercos would come with this clip.
The important thing was that I had an onion tied to my belt, which was the style at the time. You couldn't get white onions, because of the war. The only thing you could get was those big yellow ones...

+1. I found the clip on the PPT very appealing, though there have been complaints of it swinging from side-to-side (never happened to mine). I need to get a backup to the PPT...
