This is wonderful news. More and more I am becoming a fan of FRN for its strength and light weight. Very intrigued by N5, but if a lighter FRN version is coming, I can wait.sal wrote:As I understand, the mold is finished and we're testing parts.

Just a guess, but based on the fact that no FRN version of a given knife has ever cost as much or more than a G-10 version of the same model, I'd say yes, it will almost certainly be less expensive unless Spyderco decides to pair the FRN with a super-expensive, nearly impossible to grind, exotic steel.OutOfTheBlue wrote:I actually prefer FRN to G10, so I'm diggin' this news. Would it be reasonable to expect that this variation will be cheaper than the G10 model?

So you're saying the S110V Native 5 you alluded to here will be FRN?sal wrote:Hey Paul, That's the plan.

This also will be a platform for the 2012 Forum knife :) :pThe Deacon wrote:So you're saying the S110V Native 5 you alluded to here will be FRN?

Sal,
I'd love to help out. Please send parts here for further testing assistance. :p
On a more serious note, what are the odds of an FRCP Native?
Thx,
Nick

I've been being good about not spending money on knives I don't need lately. But the Native 5 has always been on my radar for its size, sleek looks, and blade steel. So if a lighterweight frn version comes out...I'm going to have to buy one immediatly lol. It'll become a new edc for sure.
