Of all your knives which ones do you love but rarely carry?

Hi Everyone,

Just curious I have a few knives in my small collection that I love but never carry. I am wondering if you all have knives that fit the same description and why they don't get much pocket time. Here are my knives and my reasons;

Red Persian - Very pretty, don't want to scratch up the bolsters, a little heavy, very slippery

Poliwog - Love the Ergos but eats up a lot of pocket real estate

Delica Damascus sprint Orange jig bone- extremely beautiful, don't want to F/up the blade or scratch the bolsters, no pocket clip

Just to be clear, I love all these knives, I wouldn't sell them, thrilled to have them, content to look at them ... I just don't carry them.

Stainless Stretch - (same reasons as your persian) but I think I must find another one to use because it is so sweet.

G-10 Delica - too perfect to scratch (I am hard on the knives that actually it my pocket.)

My Sprint PM2s - haven't needed to tarnish their value until my current users are showing signs of breaking down.

Sage3, love the lock, love the G10, love the clip... but for some reason it doesn't make the pocket as much as it should. I think it's because the handle is a little bit bigger and a different shape than the other Sages.

Temperance 2. I just don't get out enough to use it that often but it is one of my favorites

Delica and Endura are great knives! They're the low priced crack samples that'll get you hooked on spyderco! Feed the need!

Red Persian - for the same reason as you. I'd like to get the bolsters engraved, as it would hide scratches so I wouldn't mind carrying it.

Schempp Rock and Rock Salt - love these knives, but can't really carry them around Los Angeles.

Nishijin CF Lum. Too nice to carry and if I carry a bigger blade, it is because I need to use it - and I dont really want to have to use the Lum for anything heavy duty.

We are a funny bunch, afraid to ruin our tools :D
FG SE endura- rarely to never need a SE
Zdp sprint blue delica- saber grind is meh, its blue- i have trouble cutting with anything other than a green knife.
Manix 2 blue sprint- dont want to sharpen the edge in case i decide to trade or sell it which, despite my love of it i may do-its blue.
Purple forum native- was convinced i was going to use the **** out of it and not pamper it cause there were only 300 made...300...wow, thats not many...infact thats downright rare (hides native in dark cupboard)

Yojimbo2. I seriously love using it inside the house, but outside, I don't want people to look at me funny or be afraid I'm some sort of stabbist or whatnot ):

Here are a few that don't get the pocket time, for whatever reason...

- S90V CF Para2 sprint - it took me a long time to get one of these after missing the initial sale...

- ZDP-189 CF Stretch - I always reach for the FRN version

- Any Millie - I love them to death, but they are just too darned big for me

- Micarta Goddards - Used to be some of my favorite knives, but the pinned construction makes the blade bind up. Still carry the Baby, though.\

The Gayle Bradley is one of my favorite Spyderco knives. I used to carry it all the time but rarely do now. Since I got the Sage4 that knife is the one I carry. One reason I feel good about but is not that important to me is FL has a 3" blade length law. Where I live though the 3.5" blade knives are not a problem with LE (unless you poke people with it :) ). The Sage4 just fits my hand like a glove. I have to say I like the Sage4 better only because that is the one I use. The actual reasons I like it better are hard to put a finger on.

I don't carry the Chaparral all that often because at the moment it is my "dress" knife. I don't "dress" very often any more. When I was working that would have been my EDC work knife. I do carry the Chaparral though even when I don't "dress" as long as I know I won't be getting dirty or doing work I'd need a stronger knife for.

What keeps the GB and Chap out of my pockets are also little mods I've made to the Sage4 and Manbug that I like. These two knives are my true EDC knives.

Sage4: Stonewash blade, bolsters and liners. G-10 scales (which will be replaced by dymondwood soon).

Manbug G-10: I put the ZDP-189 blade in the G-10 handle.

I really like my Superhawk but somehow I don't end up carrying it often.

I used to not carry my Caly 3.5 CF ZDP because I was afraid to scratch it. Now I carry and use it.

D2 Para 1. It was a gift and I do carry it but rarely use it. It is not the only knife I have been gifted by my wife but for some reason I have a hard time putting it to hard use. Swapped out a stainless clip for it to match my other FG G10 knives.

S90V Millie. I have used this but my plain jane S30V CE Millie gets the nod when I need something that large.

At least I do carry them occasionally

Really? There are "knife jobs" the Chap isn't up to handling? I don't really buy that. ;)

As for me, sure... Lots of knives went from EDC to drawer duty when the next latest greatest came along. Too many to list them all but they include an original Bob T, Lil'Temp, Phoenix, several sprint PM&2s... The GB is seeing less and less carry. It used to be my "out" knife and the SB 3.5 was my "staying in" knife. These days the Balance is filling the "in" role and the SB 3.5 has moved to the "out" leaving the GB homeless. It's kinda sad, really.

Orange Dodo - I love it, but it turns out the orange is just too loud for my tastes, and the blade shape is just too specialised for my normal use.

All of my previous versions of the Delica and Endura. I have 1st Gen Delica and Endura, SS Delica and Endura, and 3rd Gen Endura (I gifted the Delica 3 to a friend a couple of years ago and am still looking for a replacement). Since the 4th Gen came out, I have not carried any of the others, but still love them dearly.

I also never carry my maroon Jess Horn and maroon Calypso Jr. sprint run knives.

On a non-Spyderco note, my ZT0200 never sees any pocket time either. I absolutely love that big beast of a knife, but it's just bigger than I ever carry.

Military - My first really good liner lock, but it's just big for my size.
Lil Temp - The 440V is a bear to sharpen.

I rarely carry most of my collection. Especially the discontinued models... the mint, classic Schempps, Workers, etc. but I get as much enjoyment from looking at and handling them as using them.
