Well, if we use the 1955 double die penny as a model for value relative due to error http://www.coinsite.com/content/faq/1955dd.asp that would be about 100,000 to 1,500,000 times original value, right? so if it's pristine, about 5 million to 150 million depending?

If that's it I thought for sure they'd be overlapping, or close, but that's quite the distance between them. Pretty cool.

That looks like a legit picture. The motion blur is way too spot on, it would take a lot of work to match it that well.

These are laser-etched, right?

The thought of a rogue laser running around out there is vaguely disturbing...

Only Spyderco could say for sure but, if I had to guess, I would say it was done intentionally since the extra :spyder: seems way too far from where it should be to be a simple mistake. Might have been done by an employee for their personal collection, or commissioned and paid for, since Spyderco does offer engraving services. If either of those is the case then, IMHO, it would add no more to the value of the knife than any other such engraving. I'd still like to see a photo of the other side of the blade and especially the thumb ramp area because, if it was an error, then I'd expect to see a second's notch in that location.

Hmmm...now that you mention it, covering the whole blade would be pretty badass especially if it was randomly done, sort of like a digicam pattern in a way.
