I just got my first MAde in Japan Delica 4. And I have a concern if it is emitting even a small amount of Radiation ?

As you all know, There were 4 Chernobyl Nuclear Meltdowns in Japan at Fukushima Daiachi its been pretty much kept quiet in respect to the huge deal that is made out of Chernobyl here we had 4 just a big each and its not spoken of.

SEKi-City Japan is not that far from Fukushima. And everything for 100 miles from Fukushima is pretty much radio active.

I don't want to have any lasting health problems or worse my kids to be affected.

Especially for EDC in my pocket very close to my crotch.

Are you talking recent events or past events? early 2012/2011 ect?

It's safe, if you are worried, send it to me for safe disposal. :)

In the (very) remote likelihood that you knife was exposed to radiation it is no more likely to be radioactive than still hot from the steel making process.

You admit radiation, there is background radiation everywhere. If you are really concerned, any local university will have radiation detectors in the u-grad labs as there are many experiments done on half-lives, etc., just stop in and check it out.

It's far too late I'm afraid. Quarantine is the only option. :(

I say this wearing a lithium powered flashlight around my neck with two tritium vials.

After my right testicle grew to the size of a coconut I started carrying my knife in my left pocket, now they are both the same size, phew ... crisis averted.

I'll take it ! ;)

Seriously tho Im sure your customs service would do the appropriate tests at the boarder on inbound goods from Japan.

I never thought about that. I cut myself with dragonfly last week, no super powers though. Tried flying, I just plopped.

Seki City in Gifu is quite a bit further south from Fukushima than Tokyo. Radiation levels are monitored closely in Japan. I visited Tokyo and Seki last October after the earthquake and found that though there may have been some heightened concern in Tokyo immediately after the radiation release at the plants, careful monitoring has not shown any real issues around Tokyo. I will be in Tokyo later this week and I still do not have any reason to be concerned. I will probably be exposed to more radiation during my flight over from the high altitude than any background radiation in Japan. I would not expect any radiation on any products from Japan unless it was from agricultural products grown in the quarantined "hotzone" around the reactors.
