May I present the new "Stretch Mini"...

I know some of you will be mad at me for this mod, but I love the drop point blade shape of the Stretch, so...

It's way more useful (to me) now, and I love how it looks, too. It was right easy to do, if anyone cares. Just a diamond bit and sander on the Dremel, then sanding by hand with 400, 600, and 1500 grit sandpapers, then a polishing wheel and some red compound, and Bob's yer uncle.

Thanks for looking.

- best wishes, Jazz.

Great Job, Jazz! I like it! I've always loved the look of the stretch's blade. I too think that hollow ground goes great with a nice pointed blade. It indeed makes it more useful.

Great pics too.

Outstanding work, Jazz! You really nailed the blade profile.

Nice job! Looks great.

But I like my Jester just the way it is.

Looks pretty nice, but for it to really be a mini stretch, you have to flat grind it. :P

Thanks, guys. :) I have no problem with the Jester's shape - I just wanted a bit more point, and I always have to fool around with something (not really, but I like working with metal). Flat grind would be nice - I agree.

- best wishes, Jazz.

Spyderco should make a sprint run Jazz edition.

Personally, I like the Jester just the way it is, but I believe that once someone buys a knife is yours, they can do with it as they see fit. You did some very nice work Jazz, and the finished product looks really good.

I have the tools you used on your VG-10 blade. Have you (or anyone) used similar tools to do similar work on ZDP-189? I have both Manbugs and have thought how much I wished the Manbug had the blade shape of the Jester spine. So, now you have me thinking about doing something to a Manbug. These tools may not be hard enough for ZDP is what I'm thinking so if anyone has any info on that I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

My norton bench stone sharpens ZDP no problem, so I'd say the diamond bits and sandpaper'd have no problem. Keep it cool when grinding.

I haven't worked with ZDP, but I have used carbide rasps and reinforced cutting disks in a Dremel to shape hardened steel. Just don't let it over heat, and post pics.

That looks really great! Well done Jazz.
