Lefty/Ambidexerous UNITE!

#1

Post by vampyrewolf »

I know many of us are lefty or ambi... and though we do not make up the full market for , we take up a good chunk of it.

How many of us are there? Only 1700 users on this forum...

I make 2! I've seen stats for pure lefty's ranging from a minimum of 9% up to just less than 12%. Don't know about ambi's, but I suspect most ambi's are converted lefty's anyhow.

Well, it looks like I'm lefty #4...And I've been all over Sal "telling him" that I'd LOVE to see more lefty-friendly Spydies (with reverseable clips like the Endura/Delica)...Especially the Chinook.

i guess i'm number 5. maybe they need more leftys at the factory!!!!! anyway i can't see it being a big expense to drill holes on the other side of the handles when they are making these knives. that would be like getting a new car without gas in it....ken

transistor> don't know about most ambis, but I'm a right hander(as far as I know) that has worked on the left hand. I know theres bound to be an event where I'll be forced into using my left hand only and I may as well be ready.

For all I know I could have been a lefty in my early years, and been forced into a right handed world in school. Not too many videos of my childhood running around.

I'm not so sure if I'm lefty or ambi; I play ball throwing with my left arm and bat both sides; I write with my right hand. I open my dragonfly with my right due to the clip but open the jester easily with either hand as well as the ladybug. I also guess that I was to be full blown lefty but was converted while young.

Hi people,
By default i am a right handed person. But i consider myself ambi / lefty only as far as the following is concerned...
a] If we are concerned with deploying the then i can do that with left and right hands using the thumb pull on my co pilot (gotta try that out on the rookie tho').
b] If we are concerned with deploying *and* using the copilot with the same hand then, i'm a right handed person coz i regularly deploy with the left and then switch the blade to the right hand for use. This condition is due to the fact that i carry my bug on the LHS trouser pocket or LHS jacket pocket.
I would not trust the spirit that resides in my copilot to be awakened in my weaker hand...

Have a nice day.
Kaizer.

Edited for spelling and text.

Part-time lefty here. I will stand in line in the rain if the Chinook becomes available in a lefty-friendly version. My Gunting opens kinetically, which is ambidextrous, and is my favorite, but a Chinook would be a good companion.

Well, i am not a leftie but my wife is. i always got the complains from her that spyderco's not producing many left-hand friendly knives...she just got a meekat but was not entirely happy about the difficulties to open and close the blade due to the locking system.

love to see more leftie knives produced, sal.

A good test to see if you are a "lefty" or a "righty" is to have someone toss a ball at you, and see what hand that you catch it or block it with. Your "survival instinct" will give you the answer.

I am righty, but just as VW, I try to use both of my hands as often as possible, just in case. Anyway, I welcome a knife with an adjustable clip, that's why I can't wait to see the Paramillie, which is said to feature left / right, tip up / down carry. Now that's the more I like it!

Well, I'm dominant right everything. I use my left for some stuff, like flipping s when I'm bored and need a bit of a challenge.

Marauder- Planning on listening to CalPoly-Toledo tomorrow night? Might be entertaining, Cal hasn't been around here since '60.

Keepin' it real...real sharp, that is.
