Now that I think about that sentence, I'm a bit confused too. Whose request?

I think he meant our request, for a forum knife, but Sal was replying to the OP, as in the individual's request for the forum knife?

Agreed here :) The request has been around for a while :) Whatever comes from it is fine with me :)

I suspect Sal was talking about a "panty unwadding" tool, something like the whale rescue device but a bit smaller. . . . . . . but larger for my ex-wife's fruit of the looms.

Something that's never been done before, sounds like something I must have.
Thanks Sal, Eric and everyone at Spyderco for thinking outside the box.

Sounds like what I suggested in the other thread, something new, not something old with a different color handle or blade steel. I'm in for one if it's not too pricey.

Wonder what it could be. Something never done before? It's like Christmas eve, and we're looking at the gifts under the tree. New lock? No.. probably not. I hope it's the handles that look like the spyderco box, but that's been done before in the spyker, the inlay thing, although the design would be different. What else could be never done before? There's so much!

How about a folding knife that replaces the blade with another another handle, and inside that handle is where the blade is.

Call it the "Alien".

I sure hope it a lockback, or a linerlock with that new-fangled self-close mechanism. :D

For those of you who have experience with forum knives, how long should we expect to wait? Is this a 6 month thing or a 12 month thing?

If anyone can find a pattern in the release times of the earlier ones, they're better at seeing order in randomness than me. Not to mention that, even if there was a discernible pattern, Sal's statement that "Part of what we are doing, we've not done before and want to make sure we can do it before commitment." would make me put this one outside it. Simplest answer is, "it will get here when it gets here". What I'd say we can count on based on earlier ones is at that the knife's specifics, including price and ordering information, will be posted in a new thread on this forum at least a month in advance of the "go live" date.
