Oh was there a matriarch with a straight edge? I prefer serrated myself but I did not know that. I thought they came serrated only, like the Civilians. I ask just because I just ordered a Lil' Matriarch from Knife Center and yes, only this serrated model was displayed.

I think the prototype in Amsterdam was PE, but the production version SE only. I wouldn't mind a plain edge one myself.

I got mine today. After messing with it all day, and attacking a few hearty weeds in the back yard, I can honesty say I love the design! I prefer the Delica 4 handle, and the blade with its closer to center line point is much more useful for everyday stuff.

I really want the PE version. When I saw the Amsterdam pic I was in love and then Jim Howe told me he thought it would only be SE. I share your pain Spidernoir!

I think we're going to have to wait a while for a ZDP Plain Edge with Orange FRN sprint.

Hint, hint. :)

You're so right, I will continue to be patient. I will just have to wait for the ZDP Plain Edge with Orange FRN. I hear it's going to be 67 RC and have a tritium/titanium lanyard bead combo. Thanks for keeping me in check donut!

I hope you are saying that you prefer the Delica handle to the Endura handle of the full size Matriarch rather than you prefer the Delica handle to the Lil Matriarch handle thus implying that they are different. I was looking at doing a blade swap into an orange Delica handle as soon as I got my Lil Matriarch.

I liked this plan as it made the Lil M look a bit less like a weapon and I've been thinking of getting a FFG Delica with a black handle as well.

Smart!

Kind of bummed, actually. The PE version is what made me interested in this knife in the first place. Oh well... :(

Bit bummed myself. Will probably get one anyway, but PE would have been a lot more exciting.

FWIW, PE Civilians do exist. The Tufram and CF versions were available that way, and there's at least one G-10 one in the wild, possibly made for the Japanese market.

There was.
As Deacon pointed out there was even a PE Civilian.
In general for this design, I think the SE are more popular, though I like my PE Matriarch.

I'm having a little trouble getting excited about the L'il Matriarch. Seems sort of like a solution in search of a problem.

Civilian and Matriarch are kinda task driven designs. Not sure what task the L'il is for that isn't already handled by multiple other designs.

Who knows, it may grow on me or my opinion my change over time...frequently does.

I'm thinking of it as a classed-up Tasman personally. For that purpose with the 4-way clip and bi-directional texturing it's pretty awesome.

In the proto-vid from Amsterdam Eric G did say the handle was modified to accept the blade. With another Delica handle it might take a bit of sanding, swapping components, or more.

The brown flat ground sprint was also shortly available.

That was kind of a hint to Sal. :)

I did not know that, but then again I've never searched for a PE Civilian or Matriarch. Most of my straight blade folders are PE, but the curved ones are SE, which is what I prefer in that category. I do have a PE Superhawk, but the point does not curve in that one. Thank you both for the info.

Lil' Matriach just went up at CS, so I placed my order. Looks like a great knife.

Got my Lil' Matriarch today. A few things of note:

The Lil' Matriarch did not come with the same warning tag that the Matriarch 2 and Civilian have, warning against utility use.

The backspacer is identical to that of the Delica, unlike the Matriarch 2 (which has a different backspacer than the Endura to accommodate the tip).

Obligatory photo time:

Another difference: the Lil' Matriarch has jimping on the thumb ramp, while the Matriarch 2 doesn't.
